Overview

How I got started

I began Racing in 1990, at the age of 19. Started grass dragging and moved on to ice dragging and then in the late 90?s, began great stint as Snow-Cross racer. This developed into a full team operation which, most importantly, included a sponsorship from Polaris. During that time, I peaked snow cross racing as a semi-pro. Then spent couple years helping out a young semi-pro snow cross racer, which was a great experience because with some guidance he turned pro and finished his career . Most recently, I have moved to my real passion, which is Cross-Country racing, which I have spent the last two years racing as pro. www.colbyracing.com

Goals for the Future

Secure a cross-country sponsorship with sled manufacture, maintain and continue to develop my existing sponsors and build a strong successful race team. My strong leadership abilities will be a great asset to building our young race team. My personal racing goals are very simple, to attend all USCC races and to represent all my sponsors in a professional manner and finish as best I can in Pro Stock class.

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

Just love snowmobiles and racing... been on sleds since the age of 5 and just can`t get enough!

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

Nearly running out of fuel at my 1st cross country event because I did want to take too long at the pit stop. Opps, but we did make in with VERY fuel little in the tank.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I always think of my late mother during the National Anthem before a race, that`s about as personal as it gets! This year for the 1st time, our team is helping the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society`s nationwide evening walk to raise awareness and funds to cure leukemia. It`s been real nice being able to give back, we lost our mother to this disease several years ago.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Why do I have to grow up? No says it`s not so, I know my wife would like to hear that I would or wait maybe she wouldn`t?

Competitive Highlights

I have been racing snowmobiles since 1990 in many different venues, grass & ice drags, snocross and finally my true passion cross country racing. The last three seasons I have been running in the Pro levels in the United States Cross Country Series. This past season (2006) I ran in the premier class Pro Stock, I finish 4th overall which was a great achievement. In 2004 I was 6th in overall points standing in the USCC Pro-Open Class and in 2005, my overall point standing was 7th in the Pro-Open Class. It also has to be noted, our biggest race of the year is the Red Lake I-500, which is a 500 mile cross country race. I have finished the race in the top 10 all three attempts 2004,2005 & 2006. Also I have enjoyed working with my sponsors improving their products with real field testing.
