Shoulder Dislocation

I've been through several shoulder dislocations since fall of 2005. Okay, so I think the official count is 7. But I just suffered the worst one a few days ago.

I was over at Sean Louck's property and we were building some trails. It was about 6:00 and we had been riding/working all day. I went to pull a roller that we had just put in and shaped; and I came up a little short, bumping my shoulder enough to knock it out of socket. Sean's dad spent about 20 minutes with me trying to work it back in ourselfs, but my muscles had locked into place, so it was no good. I told them I needed to have it put back in at the hospital. An ambulance was called (not for me. Ironically, another incident happend at the same time. I just hitched a ride with one of the ambulances that came out.) The paramedics put me on an IV drip and gave me a shot of valium to stop the muscle spasms, and 10 mg of morphine. I got x-rays at the hospital, then I was sedated and my shoulder popped back in to place. This was after 9:00, so I spent about three hours with my shoulder out.

The orders form the hospital were to stay in a sling and no sports till I got clearance from an orthopedist. I was to an ortho 7 or 8 months ago, and I know they wouldn't clear me. as for the sling, I got yelled at by a nurse because I took it off in the hospital, haha. I plan on surgery after my season is over. Hopefully I can make it to October without dislocating it again.

Got something to say?
