Well, in spite of all the various problems that have keep me off the racetrack through much of the past couple months (the flu, broken tranmission, etc) I decided to go ahead and stick with my plan to move up to the Vet A classes. As you can see from my Results, my first race in the higher classes went fairly well, I won the +40A class and got 3rd in the +30A despite a first turn collision in the second moto that left me with a very sore neck and mildly sprained thumb (I was 2nd in the first moto for that class).
I'm racing the first round of the AMP Spring Series at Prairie City this weekend and plan to split my time between that series and the E Street Spring Series in the next couple months. I would like to do the entire AMP Series, but with the cost of fuel being what it is, I'll be sticking to the tracks that are closer to home for a while.

<sigh> I took a few weeks off from racing over Christmas, intending to start again in early January, but a series of bike problems have greatly limited my racing opportunities this past month. It started with a broken front rim during practice. I decided to get the top end done while I was waiting for the wheel which delayed my comeback for an extra week due to parts availability. After that, I managed to get one race in at Carnegie (the E Street MX Winter Series) which went very well, then my bike ate fourth gear while practicing the following Thursday. Once again, I'm waiting on parts. If the tranny is back together by this weekend, I'll race Prairie City (AMP Winter Series), otherwise the following week.

If anyone is wondering why I haven`t posted any race results for a couple of weeks, I`ve been off the bike due to a *nasty* cold/flu thing. I finally felt good enough to practice last Sunday and will be racing this weekend, most likely at E Street, then Honey Lake the following week. After that, I will race the final 2 rounds of the AMP/GFI Fall Series (Oatfield and Prairie City/Hangtown) as well as doing the E Street Fall Series (which includes races at Oatfield and Stead) and whatever else I can fit in between.
Looking at my recent results you might think the only place I ever race is E Street in Marysville, but that`s really not the case :-) During this past summer there were only two tracks in Northern California racing regularly, E Street and Los Banos, and I elected to follow the E Street series since it`s much closer to home. Normally I enjoy racing a variety of tracks and am looking forward to doing so during the Fall and Winter. If not for my illness, I would have definitely raced the entire AMP/GFI Fall Series. In general, I plan to race as many AMP/GFI races as possible in the coming months so I can earn the necessary advancement points to move up to the "A" class.
