Overview

How I got started

After racing for several teams and owners over 22 years, my father, Dan Kirts and I decided to take control of our own destiny and formed the Kirts Motorsports Enduro Racing Team. We founded the team in 1996 which became very successful almost instantly. Kirts Motorsports finished in the top ten of the points it`s first 3 years. Dan retired from racing after the 1998 season. In 1999, Mike Williams joined the team along with our first major sponsor, Bad Frog Beer. With the new sponsor came the new team name, Bad Frog Racing. In 2000, Jim Kirts brought the team it`s first championship by winning MIRA`s Pro Open Mod Sprint class Championship. Mike Williams was the next to bring good fortune to the team when he won the 2001 MIRA Sportsman 500 Sprint Championship. 2004 was the best year so far for the team. Not only did Jim Kirts get the very first pro enduro win for the team, but he also won the teams first ever MIRA Pro 600 Mod Enduro Championship. In 2005, Bad Frog Racing added it`s 2 new beggining racers. Derek and Jake Gerow, Jim`s two step-sons, took the junior class by storm by winning every heat race and final between the two of them. Jim and Derek also added two more championships to the team record by winning the MIRA Championship in both the Junior 600 Sprint and the 600 Fan Sprint classes.

Goals for the Future

For 2007, we plan to win the MIRA Pro 600 Mod Enduro Championship. We also intend on finishing at the top of the podium in each of the 4 other classes in which our team competes. Bad frog Racing also hopes to obtain at least 2 new BIG sponsors for the team.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I started racing snowmobiles when I was 14 years old and now have been racing for 30 years. My father was the Best Enduro Driver there ever was. He was the first Enduro driver to ever be inducted into the Snowmobile Racing Hall of Fame. I won the MIRA National Championship in 2004 in the Pro 600 Mod Enduro class. I also was the 2005 Champion in the 600 Fan sprint class. I am married. I have two step-sons, Derek and Jake Gerow, who are now racing along with my brother-in-law, Mike Williams. I have a true family and team effort.

Describe your style...

I am a hard driver. The thought of only being 2nd best is not something I like to settle for. I will do whatever it takes to win (safely). Most of my competitors will tell you that they like racing against me because I do drive hard, but clean.

Why do you compete?

I have been around competitve sports all of my life. My grandfather, dad, and uncles all raced in some sort of competitive sport from the day I was born. The thrill of competition gives me an adrenaline rush that has been unmatched by anything else.
