NMBS #1 FONTANA
The energy at Fontana was on full tilt! I was out at practice on Thursday. After taking a few conservative runs to get warmed up, I stopped to look at a few sections were I might be able to make a couple seconds on the new faces. As we all know to be on the podium at Fontana you need to put yourself between a rock and a hard place, or pedal like heck and pass the guy infront of you at the wall.
Race run- I had a clean start. My plan was to be smooth up top, and pedal till I pucked on the wall. I felt really good drifting the sand up top so I layed off the brakes. I had a blistering run on my hands. By the time I hit the waterfall I way going way too fast, aired the whole thing. I thought I was going to wake up in the ditch. I rode away wilth all the speed ,and the crowd was yelling. They were yelling because I had at least 8 feet of boundry tape stuck in my cassete. I must have clipped it will my pedal in the air. I made it past the lower rock garden before the tape seized my rear wheel and I could not continue.
Done! DNF
That`s racing.
