10 Tips On Training!!!

Here are some tips for cyclists trying to stay focused if they dont have a coach giving them a specific work-out each day.

1. Get a training log. Log all your work-outs, nutrition and how you feel. It is a great way to keep track of your improvement.

2. Get a power tap. The ultimate way to see your work-outs in detail and keep track of improvement is the power-tap. Monitor your work-outs closly and even upload them to a coach or friend!

3. Get a coach. Looking to improve? Well, get a coach. He will give you specific work-outs and help you improve phsically and mentally.

4. Dont want a coach? Cant afford a power tap? Then you are the person who should pick up a book. Cycling books usually have a training plan for around 16 weeks that you can follow. Helps you get stronger quick and simply. Follow all the work-outs it has in them and even follow the nutrition plan!

5.One of the biggest problems for young cyclists are friends, You have to set your prioritys, Dont get me wrong, there is always time for friends but ever heard of that famous saying...work before play....? You have to get your work-outs done first. After that you can play with your friends but dont go wild. You have to limit your time for that too. This includes boyfriends or girlfriends. I know its hard to put work before play but trust me it will work out for the best!

6. Having a hard time staying focused? Have some money to throw around? Well then get a compu-trainer. It gives you wattage, speed, cadence, heart rate, peddle effinciency and custom work-outs. It's like bringing the out doors indoors.

7. If you are having trouble getting on the bike, it dosn't mean this sport is right for you, it just means you need to re-evalute your training schedule. Do work-outs that you like. If you like riding on the road then get out there as much as possible. Winter is the time to fool around with your training and see what is right for you..

8. Dont get off the bike. So you have been doing what you were supposed to be doing for the past 3 months. But then you miss a week of work-outs. It is very hard to get back on after you havnt been on for a while. Dont let it happen to you!

9. Not looking foward to get on the bike after school. Well maybe you need more rest, better nutrition or even do it before school. It will free up your time for the rest of the day!

10.Set goals. If you dont have any goals for wattage, speed, torque or time then things can get boring. Set a goal for your-self. If its getting your sprint up to 35mph or getting your threshold higher, goals are a key to training. You always need something to shoot for!
