My Race History

I started racing BMX at 9 years old .  Shortly my dad picked me up a XR75 I couldn't reach the ground.
It was heavy and slow.  I went from that to a 1980 YZ80 air cooled then I got a 1982 YZ80 with the radiator on the bars what a bad idea that was.  Those bikes where really fast . In High school I went to work at Pro Circuit.  I was into racing and I was around racers at all times. My dad raced also so that helped me. I was on a motorcycle since before I could walk.

I raced Moto X for years off and on while training on mountain bikes. After many years of racing MX and doing Desert hair scrambles I was asked to race Baja 500. It was in 2005 my score  number was 305X class 30 pro class.

Racing Baja is something that many only dream of. The dangers are overwhelming.  The speeds are ridicules.   The pro class is the first to leave. In my class was Johnny Campbell and some of the other top guys.  My team wasn’t all seasoned racers so I worked with them before the race to help get them up to speed.  We were on a Yamaha this means that we had to ride a WR450 while team Honda had a 650. The funny thing was team Honda was all standing around our bike looking at it like wow what a great idea.  Then in 06 they were all 450’s.   From there team Honda used the 450 as the desert race bike. With desert racing comes problems my third rider was hit by a trophy truck and knocked 15 feet off his bike.  He was able to get the bike back to me.  I rode it in all bent up to the finish.

One of my favorite races that I compete in is the Virginia city GP. It is a little mining town in Virginia City that sets up a 30 mile loop for a GP race. It is 4 laps as fast as you can go. It is a lot like the Elsinore GP that I did every year from 2004-2006.

I started to like riding my mountain bike better. I was remembering the days we rode summit. The races at Big bear where a lot of fun. So I looked into what type of DH racing is still going on locally. I found the South ridge series races and signed up for the winter series.  Working at a bicycle manufacturer I spent a lot of time teaching people about bikes and traveling.  I didn’t get much time to practice and I continued to race the series and had a great time. I am looking forward to doing more DH racing.   I received a 3rd over all. Not bad for being out of shape and no practice.  With some training and some DH practice I think I can move up in the classes and do well.

My strength in the community is my ability to meet new people and open them up to new products.  I am in to the latest innovations in mountain biking and like to show people what is the latest and the greatest from the companies I support.  I do a lot of R & D for companies to help better there service to the customers.
