The first thing you need to know is that SponsorHouse is not an agency. We do not find sponsors for you. We give you the tools you need to be your own agent. Afterall, you’re the one who best knows why you deserve to be sponsored.
So you "have the tools." Now what? There are 4 main steps you will need to complete in order to find sponsors on SponsorHouse (not that we guarantee you will find sponsors on the site, but we do guarantee that you will not find sponsors if you don't complete these steps!)
Required Steps:
1) Validate your email
2) Select your sport(s)
3) Build your profile
4) Search for Sponsors/ Send your application
1) Validate Your Email
At the top of your “Account” page, click the "account settings" link. Then click the "Validate Email" link in the bottom right corner of the pop-up.
An email confirmation will be sent to the email address that you use to login to your account.
You must click on the link in that email in order for your account to be validated.
Note: Your email must be validated before your account may be searchable by others..
2) Select Your Sports
The sport(s) that you select in your account determines both the sponsorship opportunities and content available to you. Make sure that you add all of the sports that you "compete in" and "do" so you don't miss out on any potential sponsors.
3) Build Your Profile
Your profile is the key to getting you sponsored. This is where you get to sell yourself to potential sponsors and explain to them why they should sponsor you, and how you plan to successfully represent their company and products.
Your profile has a number of default content sections that we suggest you complete, but you may add more content, delete existing sections and edit any part of your profile at anytime by going to "profile" in the main navigation and clicking on one of the 3 red action buttons at the top right of your profile.
Below are some tips for building a strong profile:
- Select a headshot that represents you and your style. First impressions count.
- Keep your results updated. Stale results make it look like you're not competing anymore. It's important to update the results section of your profile every time you compete.
- Add new photos and videos. We all know what folks really want to see: cool action shots and video footage. Who are we kidding?
- Blog it. Your blog is your place to post updates to sponsors and fans. Want to elaborate on a recent event? Want to keep folks informed about your training? Want to write product reviews for your sponsors? This is your opportunity... make it interesting. Build a following.
4) Search for sponsors and send your application
As mentioned, you're your best agent. Most companies will not search for athletes to sponsor, they will wait for you to apply to them.
Obviously, the first thing you'll have to do after completing your profile is find the companies you want to be sponsored by. To search for the sponsorship opportunities available to you, click on “find sponsors” in the top navigation bar on any page.
Click the “Apply” link next to the company you wish to apply to.
Complete the application questions at the bottom of the page and click the “submit application now” button at the top right when you are finished.
Good luck!
Note: How to check for new offers
You may log into your account at anytime to check for new sponsorship offers. To do so, either click the “New Offers” link in the “My Sponsors” section of your account homepage, or click “sponsorship > offers” in the top navigation bar.
