D.I.R.T. Team Profile

DARUL IMAN RACING TEAM
D.I.R.T.

 TEAM ORGANISATION

D.I.R.T Racing Team is a professional and highly competitive racing team in the spotlight of one of the fastest growing spectator sports in Malaysia Motocross racing. The team was formed in January of 2006, but the idea of racing was originally conceived when the boys has been asking for entering into race at which it started only as a family sporting activities. A deal was made, that is when they started to practice dedicatedly prior to start a race session. Although we found the 'competition' hard going to start with, against older and more experienced riders, never once in the 2006 season did we 'give up', not even at the mud soup tracks where it was almost impossible for the Auto's. They have always given it their best and tried really hard, and as their Team Manager, Support Rider, Dad and best friend I couldn't asked more of them.

Professional motocross racers are among the best-conditioned athletes in the world. Pair these fierce, courageous competitors with the fastest, and most exotic, high-performance racing machines produced by Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, KTM, and Suzuki, and you've got the recipe for non-stop excitement that attracts loyal fans…and sells sponsor companies' products. That's why, in recent years, corporate America has been increasing its involvement in professional motocross racing, and they're in it for the long haul.

For motocross fans, nothing compares to the thrills of watching their favorite riders "hanging it out" and going-for-broke on muddy, rutted, twisting race courses that demand zero to 70 MPH "hole shots" and squeeze 30 to 40 aggressive riders through narrow, hairpin turns. Add "huge air" off jumps and mesmerizing freestyle moves in mid-air and it becomes obvious why motocross is considered the "original extreme sport.

As one of the sport's independent racing teams, we are currently seeking companies and organizations interested in tapping into the powerful marketing and media exposure that motocross team sponsorships deliver. Our Main objective will be to have FUN. Whilst achieving this, we shall maintain a professional conduct, with a sensible attitude. Our aim is to raise our profile, and show our determination and commitment to our Sponsors, whilst demonstrating our support and promotion of the Brand or Product.

We believe ourselves to be a very marketable team, that shall strive to help promote the sport as a whole. The Team will continue to give 100%, but our main priority will always be with Soul. With the correct guidance and support, it's possible our next generation may produce some outstanding athletes. We hope to be part of this.

As Manager of D.I.R.T. Racing Team, I am responsible for overseeing all that makes the team function, co ordinating the team, managing logistics, bikes maintenance, sponsor liaison and media relations.
My involvement in motor sport extends over the past 20 years. A mechanic by trade I am responsible for service, procurement and asset management.
My motorcycling adventure began in 1988.. It is how it started. The beginning was tough but more hours spent on the motorbike brought more fun every time. I was amazed with extreme sports and big doze of adrenaline. After that I changed the motorcycle for bigger and stronger one. Since then I have never look back or intend to switch to other sports even this is consider a high risk sport.

RIDERS PROFILES

MUHAMMAD ZULTHAQIF BIN MOHD ZULHILMI
Born: December 6, 1990
Residence: Kemaman, Terengganu
National #: 73,74,88
Began riding: 2006
First race: 2006, age 16
Training: Motocross, mountain biking
Hobbies: BMX, Computers
Height/weight: 5' 4"/ kgs
Current race bike: KX85, YZ250F, KXF250

Although Thaqif was unable to win his crown in 2006, he was still quick enough to win few races and take third in the overall standings in the Junior Class. Thaqif once again proved his ability to quickly adapt to new surroundings. Now with one year at the D.I.R.T team under his belt, he’s eager to take the next step upwards. At any race track, watch his ride, and you'll be amazed at the confident ease he has as he wields his Kawasaki KX85. Then realize that, at 16 years old, he has been too tall for the 85 and from there he start a move to a much bigger and powerful 250 four strokers for a different racing experience in the Novice Class.
His first 250s race came during the end of the session when he was only 16 years old. And although he chose to try some other sports for a while, he couldn't stay away from motorcycles. He started up again racing the 85 later, then a 250s is very much preferred. "I started racing a lot," Thaqif says. "But when I moved up to 250s, I knew this was what I wanted to do."

MUHAMMAD ZULFAIDHI BIN MOHD ZULHILMI
Born: August 20, 1992, Selangor.
Residence: Kemaman, Terengganu.
National #: 67
Began riding: 2005
First race: 2005, age 14
Training: Motocross, mountain biking
Hobbies: BMX, fishing
Height/weight: 5' 1"/ 50kgs.
Current race bike: Honda CR125R,  YZF250

During his preparation for his first 2006 Sepang International Circuit race season, Zulfaidhi better known as Faidie has a serious wrist injury in practice session through a double jump. He has undergone a surgery but yet it is not a 100% recovery which has  prevent him from being part of any motocross race for a year.
Anyhow, it has not stopping him from riding at all as he is being active in trail riding. He has been not very lucky as he is fully prepared for 2008 race session, he had another wrist injury in 2007 year end.
As he is very interested in motocross racing, the incidents has not block him from riding and at he is talking about to start the 2008 race session in the mid year even though it is only going to be a half year round session.

MUHAMMAD ZULHAIQAL BIN MOHD ZULHILMI
Born: October 19, 1993, Selangor.
Residence: Kemaman, Terengganu.
National #: 56
Began riding: 2005
First race: 2006, age 13
Training: Motocross, mountain biking
Hobbies: Bowling, Computer games.
Height/weight: 4' 6"/ 38kgs.
Current race bike: Kawasaki KX85

His first race came when he was only 13 years old. "I think, to make a good Motocross rider, you need to be patient, and your rhythm has to be there. Whereas outdoor, you can make mistakes and make up for it. Motocross tracks are different from one to another and you don't have the time to make up mistakes."
Not that he makes few mistakes, Haiqal has not make a good placing in 2006 race season in Sepang International Circuit race. He had a rest period of 3 months in the season due to a fractured leg during practice session. Soon after the recovery, he had another fall during the final race session ended up with another rest period of 4 months for a full recovery. He has only started his race for 2007 season during the 5th round and instead of making to the podium for overall standing, he has just win few medals for the rounds winner.
Similarly, Haiqal has a preference for a particular style of racing, too: Supercross. "I'm more of a Supercross rider," he says. "I like the jumps, being technical. Outdoors you have to hang it out a little more. It's more wide-open.”

MOHD ZULNAZMI BIN MOHD ZULHILMI
Born: October 7, 1996, Kemaman.
Residence: Kemaman, Terengganu.
National #: 481, 37,72
Began riding: 2005
First race: 2007, age 11
Training: Motocross, mountain biking
Hobbies: BMX, Computer games
Height/weight: 4' 6"/ 29kgs.
Current race bike: Kawasaki KX65/85

At any race track, watch Zulnazmi ( Abi ) ride, and you'll be amazed at the confident ease he has as he wields his Kawasaki KX 65/85 machines. Then realize that, at 12 years old, he has nearly two years of racing experience.
"I got my first bike when I was about 10," Abi says. "My dad taught me how to ride. I loved riding. I remember, when I first started, every day begging him to let me ride in the back yard."
His first race came when he was only 10 years old. And although he chose to try some other sports for a while, he couldn't stay away from motorcycles.

Abi's motocross racing career has been on the fast track to success from the beginning. After taken second placing  in the  first race of 2007 Sepang International  Circuit Championships in 65cc minibike  class  followed  by  first place in the 2007 Sepang International Circuit Championship in the final race.

Abi's has decided to go pro by the age of 15.Abi battled his way to a breakthrough victory in the 2007 Sepang International Circuit Championship in the 85cc Junior division in Grik and become the youngest Junior rider with 5th placing in Sepang International Circuit Championships even though he started the season only with round 5. Proving that he was "the real deal," Abi chased down another top three finish in 2007 calendar, taking third place in the 65cc minicross class.
2008 has been more promising for him as he started off the first race with 1st podium as a champion in a local race. Meanwhile in SIC_AAM Race Calendar he is currently listed as 2nd placing overall. His brand new KX65 has been part of the contribution toward the winning this season.
