How I got started

I got started on a Cr 80 at the age of 10... and was really afraid of it after going through a field and turning around to ask my dad how to turn around, only to see that he had jumped of the back and was waving me on!!
After that incident I turned around and got off the bike for about a month or two. Then I grew just enough to tepe toe on one foot and began riding. One of my friends and I went to tracks all summer long just to ride. I eventually blew that cr 80 up 3 times that summer, and my Dad and thought it was time for a newer bike.

Goals for the Future

Consitent in Intermediate. I want to be there every weekend, and have something every weekend. I want to stay healthy, and keep getting faster. It's all here I just have to do it.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

Leading a race in 85 novice got arm pump so bad that I flew right over a berm and went right threw a bush and then got back on behind second but couldn`t recover. Horrible!

Why do you like this sport?

I like this sport because of the rush it gives you. I also like it because of the type of people that are in this sport. Always something different to try and do! The buzz of engines roaring over your thoughts as you wait anxiously for THE GATE to drop so 30-40 riders can race to one turn where the men will be seperated from the boys!

My name is John Goodchild I ride a stock crf250r. Im am currently in 12th grade at Mayde Creek Highschool in Houston, Texas...racing and riding is part of my weekly layout. They are always on my mind and I would like to try to make it big in this sport....! Why do you compete?

I compete not only to show my potential around many other riders, but to also improve my riding. I also compete to represent my sponsors, and that awesome feeling you get when you are waiting for the gate to drop. I also compete because of the motocross family that is around at all races. It`s a family away from a family.

How's Life Treating You?

Life is great! I love life and I love riding. Riding keeps me moving and alive. School could be cooler.......and it soon will be im trying to maybe start a dirtbike club at my highschool!...should be cool!

My first series of racing was on my 80. I placed 2nd overall in 85 novice and 85 open class. I raced a bone stock yz 80 in open class, but it was a good bike to me.

Next series I moved up to 125 novice class! I placed third overall in 125 novice only three points behind second.
