Competition

How did you get started?

I started riding at the age of fifteen in my back yard. Soon after, my dad decided to take me to a local track to see how I would like it, and I hated it! A year later I was at the same local track watching some friends race, when I was dared to race the next race coming up. When I first started racing, I was the only girl in my class and was then riding a YZ 125. Since I was the only girl in my class, they didn’t know what class to have me race with. So, in the first year, I raced with any class from 50's to 250's, which was hard because I had no real challenge. In the last two years there have been approximately 20 girls to race against every race. Since my first race, I have moved up to a YZ 250F. I have trained with former AMA pros Scott Davis and Michael Brandes. I have also attended one of Scott Davis’ summer motocross camps.

List your competitive highlights:

My biggest highlight so far would be competing in the 2008 Hangtown Amature National and finishing 8th overall out of 17 girls. This was my first national race ever andcoming into the race our goal was just to finish. Seeing that I had finished 8th overall was a huge accomplishment

What are you planning for next season?

Right now Im planning on racing some local races and to start training for Hangtown. Since I was unable to attend Dodge Amature National this year, my main goal is to be physically fit for both Hangtown and Dodge. I also planning on racing in just the 250 Beginner class at any local race.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment is just seeing myself improving in racing. Weather it be taking a corner faster or winning a race. Also again Hangtown is a HUGE accomplishment for me, and Im hoping to have another great finish next year.

Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

I would have to say, just seeing other girls get out there and race really inspires me. Especially in the WMA, to know that this sport use to be a male only sport to now where there are girls all over racing is pretty cool.

Why do you like this sport?

I like this sport because anyone at any age can ride. Its not only for kids or super fast people. Also, when you go to the tracks its like your second family is there. Everyone is so nice to you and talks to you like they've known you forever.

Music?

I like all kinds of music. Anything that gets me up and moving, especailly right before I go riding.

Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?

I loveeee to travel, and with money being tight anytime I get to travel with my family its a fun time. My best road trip would have to be when me and my family went to the Hangtown Classics this past year. This was our first year racing it, so we were pretty new to when to get there and where to park, and I remember our family and about 10 others sitting in a parking lot waiting for it to open and trying to race out of there in our 1986 motorhome compared to a fun mover and we ened up beating them to the gate barely and just seeing everyone scramble to find the "best" spot in the pits and we ended up finding one of the best that everyone kept driving past.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

Ohhh man, my most embarrassing time has to be when I was racing in the beginner class at one of the local tracks and we had a double gate start, and my dad told me over and over again that I was second gate. Well when the gate went down for the novice & int girls I took off with them and felt so good because I thought I got the holeshot for the beginner girls, then looked around and saw them still on the gate! Having to pull off the track in front of everyone and wait till they took off was so embarrassing. I learned never to do that again! :)
