Sponsorship Season Interview

Tell us about your sponsorship program: We offer sponsorship opportunities to athletes competing in motocross, supercross, arenacross, freestyle, supermoto, off-road, flat track, speedway, hill climb and ATV events. We have sponsorships opportunities available for all levels of racers.

Is there anything unique about your program? Why would someone want to be a part of it? Our riders join our team to receive the best product and customer service in the industry. We strive everyday to improve the products we offer to our customers. Whether you’re a sponsored rider, a weekend warrior or the largest distributor in the industry, you receive the same respect. We take feedback from customers and race teams seriously. We then apply that feedback to improve our product line and in the development of new products. We’ve been working with race teams since the company began back in the late 1980s. Our product designs are based on real world racing technology. We currently work with some of the top racing teams today and riders benefit from all the new technology that’s been discovered.

What do you look for in a sponsored athlete or team? Riders who are outgoing, practice good sportsmanship, well spoken, organized and race consistently are ideal candidates. We encourage riders to be active in aspects of life other than motorsports such as education, their local community and family.

What is the most important information for someone to include in their application?  When reviewing resumes we look for organized race results, biography, pictures and blog updates covering race days. Unfortunately, we are unable to meet all of our sponsored riders in person. That is why organized and updated rider resumes are so important. Applicants need to showcase their talents through their resumes. Basically we’re looking for the number of races attended, the geographic location of the races and the position finished. Using this information we are able to determine the appropriate level of support.

We like to see the applicant’s biography to get a general feel for the riders lifestyle. We want to know who we are sponsoring both on and off the track.

Pictures are an extremely important part of the resume and are literally worth a thousand words when reviewing applications. We view pictures to see where the riders are running company logos and we look for riders who keep a professional appearance.

What is the most important thing for people to understand about sponsorship? Riders should understand that they are representing their sponsors both on and off the track. We offer sponsorships to help promote our product line and assist riders financially by offering our products at a discount. Receiving a sponsorship is also a great way for riders to be rewarded for their accomplishments. It’s important to build a long lasting relationship with sponsors. The longer a rider is involved in our sponsorship program, the increased likelihood that they are improving in the promotion of our brand name and image, which will result in advancement in our sponsorship opportunities. Sponsorship is not a given, it’s earned from racing and promoting sponsors. We encourage riders to promote there local dealers in any way possible because its those local dealers who sell our product line and in turn pay for their sponsorships.

Every Company has a different method for how often they review applications? Do you have a methodology or schedule? We review applications daily. Our goal is to respond to all applications by the close of our sponsorship deadline. There are some applications that take longer to review based on riding levels and events raced. We open our program August 1st in order to give applicants ample time to post race results from all the amateur nationals and close December 31st. This timeline seems to work best for all levels of racers.

Has the internet changed the way you manage your sponsorship program or your sponsored athletes? If so, how? The internet has definitely changed the way we manage our sponsorship program. Sponsorhouse has enabled us to track riders year round with the click of a button. If a rider mails us a resume, we are unable to respond until after our deadline has passed for sponsorship applications. By using Sponsorhouse we are able to respond to applicants throughout the sponsorship season as well as search for athletes who may need an answer sooner than later. Sponsorhouse has provided us with a service that is very efficient for sponsorship applications.
