Getting ready for USGP

I convinced one of my friends to race USGP...he'll do the beginner race...so I just finished putting the final touches on a ss mtb that he'll race. It's pretty 'crossed out but with a super-high gearing to avoid having to use a chain tensioner. It'l like a 36-15 but he rides fixie and he's young so he's all good.

As far as me, I just finished working on my 'cross rig as well. It's also ss but an '08 Raleigh RX 1.0 with a flat bar. I'll put up a pic or two when I get the chance. It's a sick ride but am wary of the carbon flat bar I put on it. I know the things save you wait but it's got a good amount of flew to it. That's why I'm going with a Titec Helbent for my xc bike this year. I'm not exactly a lightweight so I'm just trying to play it smart.

I'm really trying to take exercising seriously so I don't make a fool out of myself during USGP. My 2 biggest motivating factors are to have fun and impress Kristen. She's finally coming to watch me race and if it's shitty outside, I want to make it worth her while to come.

Well, gotta get some rest in before hitting the gym and then to church. I love ya babe. Hope you're having a good time and not too stressed out!!

Peace all.

Making changes...

Cross Crusade is over. There are 3 races left that are close enough I can pedal to. The first is this Sunday's Kruger's Crossing Cross Festival out on Sauivie's Island. Check out more details at www.PortlandRacing.com. The race is put on my a great guy.

Then the forst weekend of December is the final stop for the USGP of 'cross. More details at
www.USGPCyclocross.com.

Well, I've actually worked out more than once this week. I rocked it Monday, Wendesday and a short pedal today. I'll hit the gym again tomorrow and Saturday morning-ish. I'm hoping Kruger's goes well so I can get a feel for how USGP will go the 2 weeks after that. Gotta make a good showing since the new gf is finally coming out to see me race :)

Peace.

OBRA state championships for 'cross

Totally decided I would race even though I haven't worked out in ... like 2-3 weeks. That sounds brilliant, yeah? No wonder my races on Sundays have been soundly thrashing me.

Well, my gf is planning on coming to USGP to watch me race so I've got to make a good showing. Better buckle down and start working out again. Got a race this weekend out at Kruger's Farm on Sauvie Island, a break for Thanksgiving and then finally 2 days of USGP in December.

Today was probably the most pain I've been in for a long time. My cramps got so bad that I had to stop for a couple minutes during today's race. Serves me right, I guess. I also decided to haul my commuter bike out because I figured, "what the heck?" Well, that didn't help much either. It's a pig and has mtn bike tires on it which provided me with absolutely terrible tire clearance...thus keeping my wheels from spinning.

Well, the cool thing is that I'll probably see some pics of myself because of my rockin' bike I raced today. I'll post those as soon as I can.

Peace.

SS action at the SSCXWC in Portland today!!

Well, it's raining and cold enough outside. Too bad my fitness (or lack thereof) is gonna put the hurt on me today.

It also happens to be the SSCXWC. That means the big guns will be out in force today. Trebon, Wick, Craig, Decker, Tonkin, Sager, Cameron, Skerrit, etc

Should be killer! Look for pics if anyone is willing to snap some of this little Filipino guy :P

Peace.
