My Story, From a very young age, maybe two years old, I was very lucky. My father loved racing, any kind of racing, from stock cars, formula cars, dragsters and motorcycles, to airplanes and Baja racers. So his love of racing turned into my obsession with racing, now I am totally addicted to racing. My parents never allowed me to race for real. I was playing ice hockey at the time and my mom thought she could only handle me doing one dangerous sport at a time. My desire to race was suppressed. So for many years my Webco and I spent many hours at Calabazas Park jumping and secretly racing anyone that would have a go with me. Then in 1993 I bought a Specialized M2 Works mountain bike and went cross country racing. I pretty much realized very early in my cross country racing career, that climbing sucked and I was living for the downhill sections of the course. So in 1995 I raced my first downhill race at the Sizzler Classic and was hooked big time. In 2001 I started racing dual slalom, in 2004 mountain-x and in 2006 Bmx. Since the beginning I have loved every minute of it, I just hope it never ends. The Racing Questions.

What are you planning for next season?
Continue to improve both my racing and riding skills, with the goal of moving up to the Expert class. Earn the #1 plate for ABA district CA08 cruiser class and breaking the 10,000 points mark. Compete in every event in California that I can, from the Nationals to my local Bmx track. Always maintain a positive attitude and represent the sports of Mtb / Bmx and my sponsors in a professional manner.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Raising two autistic children and still maintaining my racing and riding. Or maybe not putting myself in a wheelchair for life.

Personal Questions.
Describe your style...
All out, like today is my last day on earth.
Why do you compete?
The rush, I like to scare the heck out of myself. I have always been a very competitive person in everything that I have ever done. From school work and the the military to just playing a board game. Racing has let me dial in this competitive drive to a fine edge. I know this gives me the advantage over others, my drive and desire to compete.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Who wants to grow up, I'm 46 years old and still a kid. Anyway I did get what I wanted to be, a dad.
Music?
Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Montrose, Be Bop Deluxe, Queen, Black Sabbath and maybe a little Ten Years After. Pretty much the hard stuff, the kind of music that always pissed my parents off.
What inspires you to compete?
That old Type A+ thing, I live for the thrill, to push myself to the limit. I love to compete, the feeling you get right before the event, there is nothing like it. I would rather be a racer for the moment, than a spectator any time.
My Sports.I Like: Dirt Track, Drifting, Formula, Midget, Monster Truck, Off-Road, Prototypes, Rally, Sprint Car, Stock Car, Vintage, Dirt Jump, Street, Kickboxing, Arenacross, Dirt Track, Freestyle, Motocross, Road, Pools/ Bowls, Vert / Halfpipe, Downhill, Freeskiing/Big Mtn., Longboard, Shortboard, Ultimate FightingI Do: Billiards, Bowling, Ice Hockey, Dirt Jump, Freeride, Paintball, Racquetball, Stage Race, Time Trial, Skate Park, Recreational, Classic Luge, Indoor, OutdoorI Compete: Racing, 4X / Mountain Cross, Cross Country, Downhill, Dual Slalom

Talking To Myself.
Winning Or Just Competing ?
Winning is not everything, at my age just being able to race at a competitive level is pretty rewarding. But losing still sucks.
How Do I Get My Game Face On ?
I make sure all my equipment is prepared, I have my cell phone so that I can call my wife to tell her what hospital I am going to, my teeth are brushed, I have clean underwear on just in case I get to visit the emergency room and I turn my music up really loud.
Any Special Diet Or Training ?
I see food, I eat food. As for training, I love to train hard and push my body to its limits. I ride every day to work, trading off between my Bmx, downhill or 4X bikes and get about four miles in a day. I follow the Mtb Strength Training Program for the weight training. I try to get in forty to fifty gate starts a week on my home built gate. Then off to the PAL track for riding or racing three times a week. If I have any spare time I like to relax with some bomber downhill runs on my Super-8. Pretty busy, but I like it that way.
How About A Little Background Info ?
I spent 15 years in the California Army National Guard as an 11B Infantryman. I deployed to the LA Riots in 1992 and was on active duty during Desert Storm / Shield. I am a Nationally Registered EMT-Basic with 18 years of medical service. Married for fifteen years, with two children. Also I can't spell, dance or sing and I am too poor to pay attention.
