Tucker's Surgery a Success!
Finally Getting Healthy!
1-10-2007
2006 was a very challenging year for Tucker Cantrell. After the last blog on this site, there was another broken collarbone after racing only 3 times after release from the Doctor. That put him out for another 6 weeks in order to make 100% sure the bone healed this time!
Finally, as we rolled into December, Tucker was healed up and ready to roll and we were planning on doing all 4 Toyota Arenacross races in our region and making a run at the US Open in a new class. That's when we found out that Tucker had a tumor in the growth plate of his hip.
The tumor was in a very difficult position and it had to come out. Fortunately, we found out (after about 3 weeks of real intense worry), that the tumor was NOT cancerous. Nonetheless, it needed to come out. Tucker was once again sidelined!
On December 27th, Tucker underwent surgery with a very new procedure designed to minimize the invasiveness of the removal and allow him to get back on the track more quickly. The surgery was a success and Tucker is now healing. Within the next 2-3 weeks, Tucker will be back on the track again.
2006 was very challenging for Tucker and the family due to all of the injuries and tumor. However, we feel blessed that Tucker has not been hurt seriously and that we have Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital right up the road from us! Tucker is now getting ready to take off again and we plan to race almost every weekend in 2007!
Look out..... HERE HE COMES! We're going to have a tremendous year and a ton of fun. Whether Tucker wins every race or no races, we are going to have a great year! Sometimes, being faced with the possibilities of what could happen makes you appreciate things and not sweat the small stuff. Tucker will be working hard and preparing to go big in 2007. I hope you will come out and see him back on target!
