Hannigan First place

how long have you raced for?

I Started racing at the age of 4, and I dominated the 50cc class, club champion 2 years running. I stopped racing after imigrating to canada from South Africa. At the age of 16 I started racing again quickly moving out of the D division and into C, since the move I have never finished in under the top 10 taking home 3 2nds, but injuries and bike troubles have kept me away for quite sometime now. finally healed up, with a new ride and some awesome help I am back on the road to succes

Where are your 2 favourite places to ride?

my favourite place to go race is across the border, racing is alot more competitive down there, and I really like to push my self and learn new tricks to racing. My favourite riding spots are the pemberton motocross track, and anywhere with sand oregon dunes, 8rd. I find training in the soft sand teaches you amazing bike control that you would never learn from riding the same motocross track over and over again.

where do you train?

Training is both on and off track. But as I have learn' t the best training for motocross is off track, once a week my mechanic takes me down to Mt vernon in W.A and has me do a 50mile ride up and over cliffs, through creeks, swamp everything. I find this form of training helps me both learn bike control and endurance, riding over the unexpected out there can prepare you for any form of terrain you may encounter on a track. For track training we head out to pemberton motocross track as you can ride from 10am to 9pm non stop.

whats have been your ups and downs of motorcross?

well I used to live out in south africa and for me it was podium finish after podium finish and overall i was 2nd fastest racer on a ktm 50cc in south africa, but when we moved out to canada we lost all our money and it was hard for me to get back into the sport, i had some amazing races at the tsawassen track placing 4th overall in the CMRC champion ships for 2 years. my 06 season was terrible switching over to a 125cc and blowing my gear box which in turn killed my piston and bore put me out for most of the season. my 07 season has been awesome quickly dominated the D class and since moved up to C where I've been placing top 5 every race. 08 was my worst year, switching to a 4 stroke led way to injuries and some serious bad luck with valves. 2009 has been a new begining for me, Ive mainly been focusing on my training more so than racing, so This way I can come back for the 09 fall season and dominate, a few cross border 2nd place finishes at Hannegen speedway have certainly showed me my abilities.

What are you goals for the up coming season

My plan for the upcoming season is to win, I've spent all summer training, and now it's time to push myself, Im ready to win and I have the ability, my goal is to be out of division C come 2010
