Cold Weather Can't Stop Rockstar/WBR/Suzuki
Chino, CA – January 15, 2007 - Although the temperature inside Chase Ballpark was comfortable before the opening ceremonies, an ill-advised (and botched) parachute exhibition prompted the roof to be opened to the low 40-degree weather before the first heat race. The result was a frigid race... and drastically reduced beer sales. Once the roof was finally closed, the Rockstar/WBR/Suzuki Team came out smokin'!

Michael Byrne showed great speed in his 450 Supercross practice sessions with 5th fastest lap time. Byrne's 3rd place heat race finish put him in a good position for his gate pick going into the main event. "I had a much better weekend than last weekend," Byrne said. "We made quite a bit of progress as far as with the bike and myself. I had a decent final - I ended up 6th. I made a pretty big mistake in the first rhythm section that cost me a couple of seconds. That kind of took me out of the battle with Tim Ferry. He ended up beating me by 2 seconds. It was a much better weekend though which allowed me to be 6th in points."

The lap times for the weekend reflected just how fast this track was. The rhythm sections made the difference in the riding styles of everyone. Before the heat races the track crew pulled a lot of loose dirt off the berms over the top of the harder dirt underneath. This made for some pretty slippery conditions. But by the main events the surface was pretty good.

Got something to say?
