Overview

How I got started

I`ve been riding bikes my whole life. Started off riding BMX. I got into downhill back in `95 when I moved Santa Barbara, CA. (a beautiful city which just happens to have some of the best riding in the country!) I began competing in 2003 and I`ve been hooked ever since!

Goals for the Future

Winning 1st in the 2007 SRC overall and moving up to expert in 2008.

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

My whole life I`ve participated in team sports like soccer and baseball where you rely heavily on your teammates for victory. What I love about downhill, other than the speed and adrenaline rush, is the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment in a podium finish. If I have a bad run, there`s no one to blame other than myself which pushes me even harder for the next race. If I have a excellent run on the other hand, well then it`s the greatest feeling in the world!

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Yes. I enjoy running. I run 2 miles every other day. It doesn`t sound like very much, but I try to run it in under 12 minutes which isn`t an easy task. This style of training has stuck with me since my high school soccer days. It definitely pays off during those flat straight-aways before the finish line. On the other days when I`m not running I lift weights. On weekends I try to get in a shuttle ride or two. Maybe a little dirt jumping for fun.

Music?

I love music. I used to own a DJ record store in Santa Barbara, CA. I specialized in underground dance music. I sold the business in 2003. I DJ at clubs on the weekend. I mainly spin drum & bass but I love to play house and techno as well. I love riding with my iPod. I have a 60GB iPod filled to the max with music. While I ride I love listening to hip hop, drum & bass, and punk. Maybe a little Dialated Peoples, Hieroglyphics, NAS, Pendulum, Andy C, DJ Craze, NOFX, Pennywise...anything with energy.
