Q&A - Personal

Some Personal Information About Me:

To start off, my name Jodi Stracham. This season will be my fourth season racing quads in hare scrambles. I've been riding since I was five.=] I am fourteen years old and I am very active in sports, but because of having to travel so much as a side effect of racing, I would miss too much practice and too many games to be on any other sport teams. I am perfectly satisfied with that particular downfall in sports though. I love racing. It is my whole life now. Its a lot of work, but to do something you love takes total devotion towards the sport. Other then racing, I love to do many different things having to do with art. Painting, drawing, sketching, taking photos.. and all of the extra things along those lines. I go to Canton South High and was homeschool for the first half of my freshman year. I love my life. My parents and my family meen the world to me. Without them I would not be where I am today. Plus the Lord for keeping all of the riders safe out on the track come race day. I'm not your typical "girl". I'm not afraid to get a little dirty. Actually.. to go and jump in a pool of mud would make my day=] I love the beach. I want to move to N.Carolina but haven't talked my parents into it yet. I love music. Mostly punk, punk rock, metal, rock, indy.. I like some rap, but listening to rap is not always on my daily agenda.. I'm an animal lover<3 all the way. I've never been one to make piece with a pair of pom-poms. I love to play football. Although we don't have it at our school, I love to play lacross and hockey. I like to go biking and walking. I love to lift weights. And I love doing things that are progressive because I love the feeling of satisfaction.

Why do you like this sport?

I like this sport because it takes motivation and total dedication to do well in it. You have to strive to be the best and believe that you CAN be the best if you only put your mind to it and give it all that you've got.

Why do you compete?

I compete because it gives me something to look forward to and it is something to keep me moving at a very fast and organized pace. I love the rush of the ten second call right before the green flag flies. It makes me focus and it keeps me in shape mentally and physically.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Yes, I do train. Usually I race every weekend up until the season is over. I not only race nationals every other weekend, but I also race another series the weekends in between. When I'm not racing on weekends, I'm practicing in the woods at my camp ground. During the week I take tae kwon do classes which is a class made to dicipline the mind and body. In other words it keeps me in shape and teaches me to stay focused. During the week, I go to school and take two gym classes every day. Those gym classes consist of running around a track and lift weights in a cardio room.

What inspires you to compete?

Actually my sister inspires me to compete because she is my roll model and I have always looked up to her and admired her dedication to the sport. I want to be looked at as one of the top riders as a move up in my competion.
