Information About Stephanie Cancilla

About Me:

My name is Stephanie Lynn Cancilla, and I am 21 years old. I was born on April 15, 1988 in San Jose California. I have been riding since the age of 13, and that same year (2002) I competed in my very first motocross race. At the time there was no such class as the “women’s class” on a local level. I ended up racing against the boys and finished 4th in the 80 junior class. Since that day I have been “hooked on moto,” and I haven’t stopped or given up on my goals and dreams to become a women’s pro champion. In 2005 I competed in my first WMA national series, in the amateur class and finished 2nd overall. In 2006, I turned pro with the WMA. I also graduated high school that same year, where I was on my high school’s varsity swim team all 4 years, and where I was chosen as the schools most motivated women’s athlete.  In 2007 I was in the top 20 in the Pro class with only completing 3 races of the series. I didn’t race in 2008, once in 2009, all because of injuries. It was hard for me to sit back and watch the girl’s race. That’s why I am preparing myself mentally, physically and emotionally for the 2010 AMA/WMA pro championship series.

Besides motocross, I’ve also raced flat track, TT and worcs races. I also did some supermotoing.

Since high school, I have been attending West Valley College. I have my AA in Art and Science, and I am now on my way to getting a certificate in Massage Therapy and Athletic Training.

My Assets to you:

I have always been told, that whenever someone looks at me that I have always got a smile on, and that my outlook on life is always bright no matter what the result was. But its not about how I do in school nor how many injuries I have sustained during my years. What matters the most and what I think you are looking for in a rider, in a racer, in an athlete; is someone with HEART, DETERMINATION and THE WILL TO SUCCEED, and I am just that. I know I don’t have great past results, but I am a different person now, and I just need a second chance.  My assets to you would be a newer face to the sport, who is driven and has the heart to give it her all.

My Goals for the 2010 Season:

My goals for the 2010 season are to enter into as many races and classes possible, week in and week out, winning as many races as I can till the AMA/WMA nationals start. I plan on racing all of the nationals, along with qualifying for Loretta’s and competing at Loretta’s. I also want to compete in the 2010 X-games.

Competitive Highlights

To me every time I get to go out and ride is a riding highlight. Since around where I live, there isnt that many places to ride. But I guess I would have to say turning pro is my biggest accomplishments.

And these others:

* I have been featured in racerx twice.

* I ended up finishing 20th overall with only competing in 3 rounds of the WMA pro national series.
*Getting the Holeshot at Mammoth 1st moto in the Womens pro class.
* Invited to race in Bermuda at the end of the year to represent the womens class for the USA
* Invited to race the supermoto invitatioal thats going to be held in 2007

* In racerx for the july issue, where they had some stuff on the WMA
* I was featured in Pinned magazine for the Mammoth 05 section, but they didnt get my frist name right and miss spelled my last name, and didnt have the results right either, it was a mess. I know it was me because the other girl they where talking about i was trying to get around for like 2 laps and then finally did.
*One of my career highlights was when I was also featured twice in Cycle News once in the issue of June 9, 2004 Page 66. And the other was in the issue of August 18,2004 page 56.
* I was on Fox sports news channel for the opening of a track that is near where i live.
*Another, was when I was on the front web page of a sports photographers web site. Mike Pimentel, www. grapetech.net ... it was only a week ,but I received so many calls and e-mails.
*Last, I was picked to be rider of the week.
