Hey there,

The Lumberjack 100 is in the history books and I absolutely went for it.  After a grueling few months of training, I was ready to dominate the course.  I began midpack, gradually working my way through riders on climbs and the fast downhill sections.  With each lap being 25 miles (x 4 = 100 miles), the first lap was complete in 2 hours and 15 minutes.  The next lap was more of the same at 2 hours and 30 minutes.  9 miles into the third lap, my front fork decided to destroy itself internally.  All of the bearings and brackets that hold the Lefty front fork together, fell apart, and my day was cut short.  Ultimately, I finished the day with 59 miles in a time of 5 hours and 30 minutes.  I was on pace to finish under 10 hours.  I hope to finish this race in the coming years and would like to thank everyone who donated their money to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Donations peaked at just over $800!  Thanks again.

GREAT NEWS!

I am finishing up my senior semester at Western Michigan University right now, and I will be graduating in April.  I have always planned on going to P.A. (Physician Assistant) School after I finish my four year degree.  The selection process for entrance into the 2 year P.A. School is very grueling and stressful.  Entrance is accepted on a once yearly basis.  At Western Michigan University alone this year there were over 900 applicants.  Of these 900, 180 were selected for interviews.  Out of these 180 finalists, the group is then narrowed down to a final group of 40 which make up the P.A. class enrolling in the fall.  I applied only to Western Michigan University with the hopes that I would get in, and fortunately, I DID!  I was interviewed on Friday, and accepted for admission on Monday.  This is huge for me and my plans to become a Physician Assistant working in the field of orthopedic surgery and with a specialty in Sports Medicine.  In addition, I was selected as the Presidential Scholar of Interdisciplinary Health Science, which is a huge honor.  So, for my sponsors or anyone who cared to know, I did it!

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since my last blog.  I guess I got a little busy.  Well, the season's over and I almost accomplished my main goal by winning 2 out of 3 of the series that I raced in.  I couldn't have accomplished that much without the help of my sponsors.  A special thank you to Team Active Racing and Scott USA.  They were there when I needed them and made it worth my while to train and win races.

I would like to give an outline of my goals and objectives for the 2009 season so as to keep my sponsors on track with where I'm headed, and so anyone else who wants to know can do so as well.  For the 2009 season, I will be racing in the Expert Men 19-29 class.  So far I have a great line up of sponsors and its beginning to look like the makings of another succesful year.  Below are the races that I plan to compete in next year:

Tailwind MTB Series Championship - 5 Races
USAC Michigan State Championship Series - 8 Races
Lumber Jack 100 - I will be partnering with my sponsor, Pedaling with a Purpose, to raise funds at this race with all of the proceeds going to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
USAC National Championship
Ice Man Cometh Regional Championship

*I also plan to race at a minimum one road race, and one triathalon next year*

It should be a great year, and I will do my best to keep everyone updated as the year progresses.  But it is the offseason, and there is snow on the ground, so I'm going snowboarding, see ya in the spring!

Hey everyone, the new season is here and I am off to a great start winning my first race of the season at Pontiac Lake.  Just wanted you to know that I just figured out how this digital camera works and I will have some action shots here shortly.  I am racing this Sunday (April 20) at Yankee Springs, and hopefully if the weather cooperates we will be able to get some nice pictures.  That's all for now, see ya at the races.
