Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I do train. After I come home from class around 1 o'clock, I often shuttle downhill runs with my friends for several hours. We shuttle about four days a week. When we don't shuttle, I either do cross country rides or ride some of the slalom courses in my backyard. After I'm done riding, I lift weights and work out for a couple more hours, usually from 9:00-11:30 at night. For upper body, I alternate between workouts that require pushing (benching, free weights, etc.) and workouts that require pulling (curls, pull ups, etc.) each night. Recently, I've been bench pressing 230poundsx 11reps three times, and following that with lateral arm raises, plyometric push-ups, boxing and other workouts. I've been curling 85 poundsx 6 reps, then 80poundsx 7 reps, then 70 poundsx13reps, then 60 poundsx22 reps, then 40 poundsx45 reps. I also alternate working out cardio and core muscles every night. For cardio, I either run or do sprints on my bike. For my core I do a variety of ab workouts that usually of high duration and intensity. I also try to eat well, but I wouldn't say that I am on a "diet". In an average day, I work out for about 2-3 hours of moderate to high intensity workouts. Even though I don't have a personal trainer, I've taken several weight-training and health classes, so I know how to train properly
Music?
I like rock, alternative and rap. Some of my favorite artists and bands are: Three Days Grace, Zion I, Tupac, Nas, Puddle of Mudd, Rise Against, Bush; but I love to listen to many different artists.
I'm not a fan of country.
Why do you compete?
I am a super competitive person and I like to challenge myself and set goals for myself. I like to improve and racing helps me improve a lot as well. I've always been competeting so, naturally, I love to race my bike. Also, I'm stoked about going to races because it gives me the opportunity to meet new people that I wouldn't have met otherwise.
Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?
I like traveling to bike resorts and races. In Whistler, my buddy and I froze our friend`s wet boardshorts, then kept adding layers of water onto them until they were just a giant block of ice. When it came time to pack he was so mad, it was classic. Another time, my friend fell on a rock face and landed on a sharp stump. He came up yelling, "check my butt, check my butt!!", I've had a lot of good times at Whistler.
