Q&A about my career
Why do you like this sport?
I love drag racing, Ever since I was a little boy I've grown up around the sport admiring all the legends. Garlits, Force, Glidden I mean these are all names that I grew up idolizing and wanting to be like them.
What inspires you to compete?
That's a good question, I would have to say its the will to win that's inside me. Once you win one race its like a drug you've gotta work to win every other race because that feeling you get when wining it all is just unlike anything else.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
Yes a lot in fact, Its a common misconception that race car drivers aren't athletes. That's simply not true, Motor racers deal with g-forces that only astronauts deal with. The training routine that I do consists of going to the gym 5 days a week alternating my routine and sets. The routine works most of the muscles that are important to racing. It focuses primarily on neck muscles, many different crunches and a lot of weight training. This isn't that much of a change for me because before I seriously started my racing career I was an all state athlete in track and field so putting hours in at the gym isn't a big change for me.
Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?
Well between racing season and school I don't have that much time to travel. Most of my travel consisits of burning down the turnpike and I-95. It can be fun at times but luckily I don't have to do most of the driving. My favorite road trip story would have to be from about 2 years ago when I was on my way home from the jersey shore. I was driving in the middle of the pine barrens with no other cars on the road, It was about 11 o'clock in the afternoon and all of a sudden I felt a strong vibration and than 2 seconds later bam the left rear tire blows out. My car runs off the road and starts skidding through the woods. Luckily I didn't hit anything but it was really a crazy experience.
Describe your style...
My styles kind of hard to describe honestly. I would have to say its very European. I have a deep love for formula one racing. Most of the clothing that I have that I wear on the street is either from Mclaren Ferrari or BMW. I love those teams and most of my wardrobe consists of shirts by them
