Round 2 of UCi/ABA Series: Redliner’s in the Final...

Lake Perris, CA
: Some of the toughest Gloabl competition showed up for the ABA’s SoCal Nationals - only to find that “sunny So Cal” was calling for some torrential rain; which for some reason always seems to lead to torrential mud.
To make for better racing conditions for NBC’s Universal TV camera crew and BMX show, the ABA moved the UCi event to Sunday. By then, the track conditions were almost as good as the competition.
With the precious
UCi points up for grabs, Redline’s GLOBAL Team showed up in full force - including The Netherland’s MARTIJN SCHERPEN and ROBERT DeWILDE, Japan’s MASA SAMPEI and Crew, Canada’s TORY NYHAUG and of course USA’s DENZEL STEIN.
For
MartijnScherpen.com, just making it to the Elite Mens Final was pretty impressive. The breakdown in the final was 5 Americans, one Aussie, one Latvian, and Scherpen doin’ it for Holland.
Down the first straight, it was elbow to elbow with bars bangin’ in the first turn - and reigning No.1 pro Kahlon Young taking the blunt of it. Scherpen was gettin’ squuezed like a tube o’ toothpaste, but worked his magic and got up to fourth; where he would hold on.

In the Jr Elite main, Stein and Nyhaug were representin’ the red, white and black, and hoped to make it a 1-2 finish like they had in Oklahoma. It was Rdline bookends - with Nyhaug in lane 8 and Denzel lane 2. When the gate dropped, Stein actually blew his gate but quickly laid down his power and blasted back to the front, never to look back. Meanwhile, to all of Tory’s fans delight, he was flyin’ from the outside and made his way to the 4th spot.  This was Stein’s second consecutive Jr.Elite victory.

Jr. Elite points leader DENZEL STEIN
