Overview

How I got started

I began riding at three years old and started racing oval sprints at 15. I turned Pro at 18 years of age. I have also been racing motocross and hare scrambles since the age of 12. I am the son of one of the greatest snowmobile Enduro racers in history.

Goals for the Future

I would like to finish top 5 in every race I enter this season. My biggest goal is to lead Arctic Cat into the winners circle at the famed Soo I-500 Snowmobile race, a race Arctic Cat has never won in 34 years of existence.

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

Growing up watching my father, Terry Spencer, race. He was one of the greatest oval enduro racers of all time.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I am 30 years old. I am married to the former Kristy Haemmerlein. We have 2 sons. Cameron, who is about 2 and a half years old, and Caydon, who is about 6 months old. Cameron can`t wait to be like Daddy. I am a heating and cooling installer for one of the largest companies in the nation.

Describe your style...

Smooth, Fast, Consistent. I am one of the fastest when the tracks are smooth early on, but when it gets rough, look out! My background in motocross and snocross really help me when the going gets rough. I think most people will tell you that when it gets rough, I am the fastest guy on the track. The only question is, will the sled keep up with me?

Why do you compete?

I compete for the love of the sport. Our races are anywhere from 250 laps on a 1/2 mile track, to 500 laps on a mile track. We are NASCAR`s version of snowmobiles on ice. Our races last anywhere from 2-3 hours on a short track to 8+ on the mile track.

Competitive Highlights

I tied for the points championship in the Formula 56 class my first year racing snowmobiles. I lost the title due to having only one win in the tiebreaker. I won the Christmas 250 lap Enduro in 2002, the first Enduro win for Arctic Cat in almost 6 years. In 2003 I won the Budweiser Shootout Champ 440 class in Alpena, MI. In 2002 I finished 3rd at the famed Soo I-500, leading 246 laps along the way. In 2004 I won the Woody`s 300 in Albright Shores, MI, and also had two other wins for the year. I was also named 2004 MIRA Pro Enduro Racer of the Year.
