Overview

How I got started

I bought a bike after finishing college for fitness. Eventually I got into road cycling and following racing on tv and in magazines. I was encouraged to start racing by friends and Pro Pedals bike shop in 2003. In 2004 I decided to switch my training up to add running. I did my first duathlon in may 2004 and was hooked. Since then I have moved to USCF Category 3 racing class in 2005, was named to the USAT All Regional Team in 2006 for the 30-34 age group and have won my age group for the USAT Mid-Atlantic Series in 2005, & 2007 and was 2nd overall in the series in 2007 .  Most importantly I have met alot of great people and made many friends.

Goals for the Future

Win My Age Group in the 2009 USAT Mid Atlantic Duathlon Series for a 3rd time.

Be named to the USAT all regional team for the 35-39 Age Group in the Mid-Atlantic

Upgrade to USCF Category 2

Bio

Describe your style...

My style? just down to earth I guess. Theres no need to make more enemy`s than friends, and I`ve never had to look over my shoulder. As far as racing goes, the aggressive side comes out, but in a good way.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Right now I am training 6 days a week for a toal of 10-18 hours. My traing is split of of 50/50 running and cycling. Within that time frame I also do strength and core work twice a week.

Music?

I`ll listen to just about anything. But, my heart still goes back to my roots growing up with punk rock and rock n roll. I`m also a huge fan of ska music, mostly rock steady and jamaican ska.

Why do you compete?

I love to compete with the old saying in mind" It`s not the kill but the thrill of the hunt". The whole training process, feeling myself get stronger as the season approaches and marking down improvements in my performance insipre me. I love the seriousness in the air on race day as well as the sense of fun and sportsmanship. I also love all of the wonderful people I meet along the way and I always make at least one friend at every event. Everyone is there to win, but when it`s all said and done, everyone is there also because they love the sport and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it.
