How did you get started?
My now fiance has been racing for the last 5 years for Berzerker Bikes Racing. During our first few months she forced me into riding (downhill) and I turned out to love it. I originally rode bmx growing up and into my teens (never competed) and never ran into a person who rode mtb or got into it. After a few years of no riding at all, I was put on a bike at the top of a hill and told to make it to the bottom. I've never stopped since, this has now become my passion.
List your competitive highlights
Attended all the WIM and Mt. Hood series races in 2005, but only raced at The Olympic Meltdown DH race in Port Angeles, WA due to injury from Whistler. May 6th, Ashland - Spring Thaw DH: 144th out of 167 finishing competitors, not my greatest day, but it was fun. I love these bike festivals, grass-roots style events.
What are you planning for next season?
This coming season I plan to race as many Oregon series races I can, and attend as many out of area races possible (minimum of two). During this, I also hope to better my skills as a racer/rider and move into a higher category either during the season, or be ready for it in the following season.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Finishing the Olympic Meltdown with a decent time considering the conditions. My better race time would have placed me higher than many riders in the sport class (at the time I was riding beginner) and gave me a boost to my confidence at this sport. I just hope to improve in as many areas as I can through this sport.
