Fastway Riders Dominate Down South!!

The Fastway Race Team rolled into 3rd Round of the GNCC Series in Morganton North Carolina this weekend ready to race, finishing out the weekend with an outstanding 13 podium positions.

Amanda Mastin and Ashley Crouch proved to be two of the fastest women in Off-Road racing once again by starting the morning out strong. The girls had a great battle going but Amanda would take the win and Ashley would settle for second after getting stuck in the same mud hole twice.

The afternoon race would prove to be the roughest course yet and Fastway Rider Paul Whibley would struggle with suspension and bike set up, but still pull off an amazing 3rd Place Finish in the XC1 Class. In the XC2 Class Andrew Matusek grabbed the Holeshot and had an early lead but would fall victim to the rough conditions and still manage to finish with an impressive 3rd place.

Fastway Riders absolutely dominated the Open A Class with Jordan Ashburn talking 1st, Chris Bach 2nd, Matt Crouch 3rd, Cooper Bailey 4th and Justin Monsrud 5th. . In the 4Stroke A Lites class Fastway Riders Levi Clemens and Jake Fiddler would battle with each other throughout the race but Clemens would ultimately take the win and Fiddler would settle for a solid second. South Carolina phenomenon Steward Baylor would crush the 200A Class by over a lap while close friend and local NC resident Morgan Moss would battle for the B class win and finish barely a minute ahead of 2nd Place. An extra congratulation’s goes out to Jordan Ashburn, Levi Clemons, Steward Baylor, and Jake Fiddler for being the top amateurs of the day. Great Job Team! Thanks for giving it 110%

GNCC ROUND 1 March 3rd 2009

Fastway Riders started out the morning strong with Grant Baylor controlling the Super Mini Class in the morning youth race. As the dust settled from the minis, the morning class would hit the field. Fred Hoes would go out and win the sportsman class while Todd Palmer would sweep the Vet B Class with ease.  Last years women’s class champion Mandi Mastin struggled in the deep sand and palmettos but managed to hold down the second place spot behind WMA Pro Tarah Gieger. Fastway newbie Ashley Crouch would round off the podium settling in for a hard fought 3rd place finish.  Randy Mastin had a little trouble at first but adapted fast and finished 3rd in the Masters +50 class.

The afternoon race was expected to be a dusty mess and our FASTWAY riders were well prepared. Fastway Pilot Paul Whibley had a ruff start but pulled it together for a strong 2nd place finish in the XC1 Class.  Jake Fiddler (4-stroke A) and Jordan Ashburn (Open A) would battle throughout the race but in the end Fiddler flat put it down and ended up the top Amateur rider finishing an impressive 1st in his class and 17th overall, while Ashburn would finish 3 minutes behind Fidd and still finish 1st in Open A. Morgan Moss also had an incredible race, after running out of gas he ended up having to push his bike ¾ of a mile back to the pits and still caught back up to finish on top of the box in the 250B Class. Perhaps one of the most impressive finishes of the day and the winner of the Fastway Rider of the week award goes to Steward Baylor, finishing 22nd overall and 1st place in the 200A Class, leading his class from start to finish and being one of only 4 Amateurs in the top 25. Over all it was a great day of racing and The Fastway Family came out on top!

National Enduro Round 3 “The Alligator Enduro” March 5th 2009

Have you ever heard the term “He’s on Fire” well; in this case it wasn’t just a saying. Several of our riders ended up with some nice scorch marks on their bikes and gear due to a large brush fire in section 4 that went directly through the course. Steward Baylor described the race conditions as “Absolutely brutal.” But our Riders put their heads down and kept their times in check. Wally Palmer would pull an impressive 3rd place finish in the pro class and Steward Baylor (200A), Trey Wellborn (Open A), Fred Hoess (Senior A), Morgan Moss (250 B), Todd Palmer (Vet B), and Mandi Mastin (Women) all finished 1st in their individual classes making it an outstanding day for Team Fastway!

GNCC ROUND 2 March 8th 2009

A beautiful morning in Georgia started the day off right and conditions were near perfect! Everybody was a little sleepy still from the time change but the pre-race adrenaline would have the Fastway Riders up and ready to ride. The wind would start to pick up as the youth riders headed to the line. Grant Baylor would start the morning out with the first win of the day in the (Super Mini 12-13 Class) Winning by almost 4 minutes, Grant showed that he isn’t the only Baylor on the track looking to make a statement! After the kids finished up it was time to get the morning race going.  Seth Miller and Wes Keller went into the first corner almost completely even but Wes snuck through to get the holeshot. Seth put his head down and ended up throwing down the fastest lap times of the morning for the second and third lap until a gnarly crash took him out of the race. Fastway Ladies Amanda Mastin Road and Ashley Crouch had a great morning of riding. Amanda had a case of the flu going and held onto the lead as long as she could but Ashley would eventually pass her and take the win in the Women’s Class and Amanda was happy to finish the race in second place.

The Fastway Race Team was in full swing coming into the afternoon race. The boys were focused and looking into that first corner. When the flag dropped Paul Whibbley pinned it and left a cloud of dust behind him, along with the entire field. Fastway Riders Whibbley and Jimmy Jarrett would battle back and forth for the lead along with their old teammate Charlie Mullins. Whibbley would ultimately end up victorious with teammate Jarrett by his side.  Fastway’s Andrew Matusek pulled the holeshot in the XC2 Class and road an excellent race with torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder. Towards the end of the race Andrew would battle for the last podium position with fellow Fastway Rider Scotty Watkins, where Scotty would ultimately prevail with a 2 minute lead over Andrew. About 6 minutes behind the top XC2 riders Fastway Riders Jordan Ashburn (Open A) and Jake Fiddler (4 Stroke A Lites) would continue the battle that was started in Florida earlier in the week. Both Riders went back and forth with Ashburn finally taking the lead and beating Fiddler by only a minute. Ashburn would end up taking the top Amateur seat while both riders took 1st place in their individual classes for a second week in a row! Only 3 Minutes behind Fiddler, Fastway’s Steward Baylor would dominate the 200A Class by over a lap! The rest of our boys would keep riding strong. Morgan Moss (250B), Austin Shroyer (Open B), Duane Conner (Vet A +30) and Rudy Austin (Vet B +30) would all go on to win their classes topping off an amazing day of racing for the Fastway Family!

What’s up everybody? Well this weekend I flew out to Columbus Ohio for another round of EnduroCross. It was sick! I brought in a bunch of my boys and girl for some bike crushing fun! Matt Crouch went off and took the two stroke expert win, while Johnny Barber and Morgan Moss stayed calm and collective and finished strong. Matt Karlson, Bobby Prochnau where also there in full swing and ran a great race! We raised a ton of money for the Josh Morros recovery fund and a huge thanks goes out to Destry Abbott and Ricky Dietrich for the support and autographed jerseys. So I looks like Vegas is my next stop for the EnduroCross Finally. The Morros fundraiser will still be going on so help us raise some money for our boy Josh! See you in Vegas!

hi Everyone!!

Day 1 is done. Today's trail had a mixture of many different elements containing some road, jeep roads, fun flowing trail sections and some very technical uphill’s. The terrain is a rocky hard pack dirt with lots of rock. The thing is the dirt is so dry, the sections have turned to silty sandy trails.

My day didn't go so good...I had some problems with a technical silty uphill. But the good news is that our Women's Team did good overall. The USA is standing in 2nd place right now, just a couple minutes behind France. There's 5 days left and with dry silty conditions and hot temperatures, 3 minutes is not much! The other good news...my knee is holding up good for the conditions, so that is a plus!! There's 5 days left and with dry silty conditions and hot temperatures, 3 minutes is not much!

Team USA World Trophy Team is riding strong. Official results have them being in 3rd place, not far off of 1st place. The USA world Trophy Team is being lead by Kurt Caselli who is officially in 1st overall!!

ISDE Greece Day 2

Hi Everyone!!

Todays trail was the same loops as we rode yesterday. Each day we ride 2 loops...so needless to say, the course was very chewed up since this was the 4th time we rode the loop.

Day 2 for the Women's USA team went well. Nicole Bradford and Maria Forsberg rode really well today. Maria moved up to 2nd overall in the women's class and Nicole moved up to 4th place. My day didn't go much better then yesterday. I am having a difficult time with the technical uphills on the 125. I lost route points again today. But, I got both tires changed tonight and the course is all new tomorrow. The word is...that tomorrow's trail doesn't have any technical uphills, with more flowing trail.  So hopefully, tomorrow will bring me a better day with some better times. The USA Women still stand in 2nd place behind France.

The World Trophy Team is still riding strong. Kurt was penalized today for getting off the course in the endoro test. They are working on getting the pentaly reduce. Right now, the USA is standing in a solid 3rd place.

ISDE Greece Day 3 Update

Hi Everyone!!

Today went much better for myself. I didn't drop any trail points and really had an enjoyable day. My special test times are still not where I'd like them to be, but I'm working on it and trying to improve everyday. Nicole had excellent special test times today, but unfortunately, she broke her triple clamp mount and lost about 17 route points. Maria had another good day! She is staying strong and leading our team! At the end of the day today, the USA Women's Team is still standing in a solid 2nd place.

Team USA World Trophy rider Kurt Caselli went out today. He had a major get off in one of the transfer sections and suffered a severe concussion. But the rest of the World Trophy team is rolling strong with Rick Dietrick and Nathan Woods putting in impressive rides today. The USA World Trophy team is currently standing in 3rd place.

Tomorrows trail will be the same trail as we rode today. It's 2 loops of fast jeep roads and some enjoyable trail sections, along with 3 special tests that we ride two times. The sections today seemed to hold up alot better than Day 1 & 2 course.

ISDE Greece Day 4 Update

Hi Everyone!!

Day 4 is in the record books!! Today's trail was the same as yesterday's course. The only things different was we pre-rode the enduro test for Day 5. Needless to say, the course was really chewed up today, after 4 laps on the 75 mile loop with 300 riders per loop. Tomorrow's course will be made up off mostly new trail with some transfer sections being part of trail that we have already rode. We are suppose to go back up the gnarly uphill that we did on Day 1 & 2, the one that gave me all kinds of problems, but rumor has it.....they are going to route us around that. So everyone, keep your fingers crossed for me, please!!! =) Other than that, the course will contain alot of the same stuff terrain stuff that we have ridden all week. Dusty and rocky conditions with transfer jeep roads and the creek section towards the bottom of the mountain.

Day 4 went well for me. I didn't drop any trail points and did okay in most of the test. Nicole had some bike problems today, but she got it all taken care of and is ready for Day 5. Maria had another outstanding day today with really good test scores. The USA Women's Team is currently standing in 2nd place with France still in 1st. But there is a protest taking place right now at the jury meeting in regards to France, so standing may or may not change. We'll have to wait and see.

The World Trophy team is still doing very well. They are currently standing in 3rd place. Nathan Woods has been having a phenomenal ride after is bikes problems on Day 1. He was 1st in 2 of the special test today and stayed within the top 5 of most of the others. Ricky Deitrich is also staying really strong. He actually posted the fast overall scores for Day 4 for the USA World Trophy team. The rest of the team, Kanney, Abbott and Jarrett are all right there too, posting great test times.
