Big win at Tri-State Championship for local racer

It was a beautiful autumn weekend for motocross racing at Walden MX Park in New York for the first annual Tri-State Championship November 1-2.
Paul Plewa, of Stoney Creek, qualified for this event through the NY State Championships held at Broome Tioga MX late in September.
At the Tri-State event, Plewa raced in three different classes. In his first race, Plewa was third out of the first corner, but was able to take advantage of the leader’s hesitation and jumped a big triple that put him in the lead. He finished the race in first place, which gave him a much needed boost of confidence to get through the rest of the day.
In his next race, he jumped out of the gate quickly, got the holeshot and took off, leaving the rest of the pack behind. He finished five motos and ended the first day well.
The sun was shining when the racers awoke with an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning. Plewa lined up at the gate for his final moto in the Super Mini class, knowing he needed to finish at least third to win the overall and bring home the hardware.
When the gate dropped, he was second out of the corner, and lost his foot peg. He was able to keep going and take the lead.
On the last lap, Plewa got a flat tire and was not able to ride at 100 per cent and his position dropped down to fourth by the checkered flag.
Luckily, the cards played out well, and he was still able to get the No. 1 plate.
All in all, after racing nine motos, Plewa had an excellent weekend and brought home podiums in all of his classes.
Plewa’s accomplishments were made possible thanks to sponsors WD 40, M2R, Scott USA, Renthal, Engine Ice, Osiris, Division 26, Twin Air, Factory Effex, Tokyo Mods, and especially Total Physio, for helping him with his wrist injury.
