Just ran the Ouchita Trail 50. I ran the 50k option this year and finished 5th overall and 2nd master. Thanks to all of my sponsors, Rush Running and Crossfit NWA. If you haven't tried Crossfit you are missing out. Since starting Crossift I have set PR's at three different distances. It is an awesome total body workout that is designed to make you stronger, faster and more durable!

Jeff, just read your blog about your cancelled race. We understand how you must have felt because we had a race cancelled due to some fires back in Oct on base where the race was to take place. We didnt have as much preparation but it still sucked!

Thanks for the great ultra advice you added to your comments.

Next up for me is the Arkansas Traveller 100 miler in October. The rest is training. The best advice that I can give a new Ultra Runner is to integrate food and liquid fuel into your training. It is essential to be able to fuel and hydrate yourself over the long haul. If you can do it during training then it comes easier during a race. After that do some night running because longer distance Ultras involve running in the dark which on a trail is alot different than in the same trail in the daylight hours. Good luck and Good running.
