Q&A - Self Interview
When did you start getting into biking?
I got into biking when I was 9 years old.
Do you prefer track cycling or mountain biking more?
It is hard to say, I truly enjoy being on the track racing my hardest on the second last lap. But I really enjoy spending my weekend on a mountain bike in the bush waiting to see what will happen next.
What was it that told you biking was what you wanted to do?
Well, when I was nine years old I met a new kid in my development who had a talent in bmx. He built jumps in my area, and I started doing them. Later on when I was I think 11 I was put in a mountain biking camp, and I found it very easy so ever since then I have just been pushing myself. Now I ride track and mountain for Juventus cycling club.

What do you have planned for the future?
In the future I would like to get more into downhill racing. When I am an adult, I guess I would want to be one of Norco's team riders. However, I am working to represent Canada in the summer olympics for track (veledrome) sprinting.
So what about this downhill longboarding?
Well, I got a longboard in elementary school at some point and decided I wanted to take it on some hills. At that point I was just sitting on it due to the fear of getting speed wobble and falling off onto the concrete. At that point longboarding was still never something I did regularly or one of muy main interests, until about two years later when I found out about a local longboard group in my city that had regular sessions to ride. I decided to show up for one of these sessions and loved it but still didn't see what else there was in the sport. Finally about another year later a friend of mine got a longobard and we were hitting them standing and was still not going very fast but it was pretty cool at the time. Later that year, we got an opportunity to go on a regular weekend trip to the mountains and we brought our boards along. Out of nowhere I got a hold of a couple pairs of leathers and with no riding experience of over 35km/h we seshed a mountain for a couple days at about 85-90km/h standing. Not long after that when we both got back with our skin still on our body and no broken bones we looked for the next race to sign up in. Unfortunatly I was not able to go in that first race my friend did because I was on vacation with the current world record holder(Biker Sherlock) for longboarding at the time. But still determined to enter a race I entered the race in my city because it is one of the places on the Canadian circuit.

Unfortunatly all of my downhill photos were lost so that is why my mtb photos are old ones off my computer. |
