I am a chef by trade. I love my work / career. I have been in the kitchen in some way or another for over 20 years. I have a degree in Culinary Arts. I have worked in Chicago, Michigan (my home state) I now live in Kansas with my wonderful wife (8 years) and two dogs.
I started biking my last year in High school. I watch as much cycling things I could find, not much to watch. Heard about the 7-eleven team (go Bobke!). Biking took a back seat to my career. I did not bike for almost 15 years.
I was back in Michigan visiting a great friend. He gave me a frame that needed to be repaired (top tube crack). I fixed the crack after a bit of research (thanks Sheldon Brown R.I.P.). I have been riding the bike now for three years and started competing last year.
At 40 I do not see myself winning the Tour or a spring classic but I love the competition. I know I can do this for a long time. In fact a lot of the guys I ride/train with are close to if not over 10 years older than me. Some of those 50 something guys are pretty darn fast too, so watch out.
Keep ridn'
