Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?
My first car was a 1988 Dodge four door sedan with a little 4 cyclinder. My friends and I would load that poor car with three bikes on a trailer and all of our riding gear in the trunk and drive to the Central Pennsylvania mountains for the weekend. There is this hill on Rt. 322 outside of Penn State that is the hill to nowhere. With 5 or 6 people in the car, three bikes on a trailer and all the provisions for a weekend of riding we would routinely get passed by semi's at 25mph. You can imagine some of the looks we used to get. What a hoot.
Why do you like this sport?
The people and the competition. The ECEA is the absolute best series. And the people in the ECEA never cease to amaze. There is intense competition, but the same guy your racing against will bend over backwards to make sure you finish. I've seen people lend suspension, full wheel sets, tubes, tires, and anything you can think of to their competitors. And riding enduro's is all about the thinking. Sure you need to go fast, but unless you understand the in's and out's of timekeeping, your not going to be competitive. But again, the people are always willing to mentor new riders and teach them the tricks and techniques to timekeeping. Speed and riding smart are the key's.
What inspires you to compete?
At first it was simply finishing. Then it was finishing well. Now it's finishing well over a long season for points. Riding smart, riding smooth and finishing strong over 18 events takes dedication from not only me, but my family. I couldn't do it without them.

I'm career military. I have 16 years of service in the Coast Guard. I'm presently serving as the Executive Petty Officer of Coast Guard Station Philadelphia.

Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
I grew up in a family that has been heavily involved in the ECEA Enduro Series. I belong to the Brandywine Enduro Riders, host of the Rattlesnake Enduro. I began competing in 1992.
List your competitive highlights:
My most memorable moment was the Delaware National Enduro in 1994. I took High Point C aboard a brand new 1994 YZ 250. It wasn't because I had a great ride, it was because I fought hard to survive and actually finished the event.
What are you planning for next season?
After being stationed in Oregon for four years I am thrilled to be back in the ECEA and able to compete. I intend to contest the full 2009 ECEA enduro schedule.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Finishing my first Enduro. I began in 1992, but that was a rough first year. Of all the races I started I was only able to finish one race. The first few attempts were due to rider ability. But then my shortcomings in bike prep and set up became a problem. I learned a lot of hard lessons that first year, but I never gave up and finally finishing my first event was a real accomplishment.
