What inspires you to compete?
the drive to get out on my bike and ride harder and faster that I ever have done before. I also like to prove people wrong. The ones that criticise you are the ones who are always on the sidelines
Why do you like this sport?
YES!! of course I do. I wouldn't compete if I didn't enjoy it. Cycling is a hard sport but the rewards are good. I used to play Aussie Rules before taking up cycling but you can only get as far as the AFL league with cycling you can represent you country, travel and race overseas.
Describe your style...
Because I am 6' 4" a lot of riders like to use me up by doing all the work and getting a free sit. However they don't like it when it comes down to a sprint and I am still there as they know I will beat them.
When riding on flat stages, time trials or the track I am known as a diesel engine as I just keep going. Just punching through the wind.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I train most days of the week. At the moment it looks like this
Mon - Track training 2 hours
Tues - Morning hill efforts - Afternoon Track Training 2 hours
Wed - Recovery ride
Thurs - Morning Bunch ride
Friday - Easy ride in morning - Chiro / Physio/ Massage in Afternoon. Race in the evening.
saturday - Long Bunch ride or Race
Sunday - 2 hours hard before work
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
turning up to a race to discover that I had left my kit at home. Luckily a mate had spare shorts and jersey that I could wear and I borrowed a helmet from someone else.
