beautiful weekends.

weekend. Wish I would have been fishing it.

been. The weather is perfect with cool mornings and warm afternoons.

weeks. Really makes for a long day.

WBT season is over for me. Finished the season in 31st. On my way to fish the Arkansas BASS Federation Championship.

Since the top 10 finish in the last WBT event, much has happened. I have been running non-stop fulfilling sponsor commitments, filming for a TV show, fishing some local events, and working a kid’s event. The highlight would be the kid's event. It is still exciting each time a child catches a fish for the very first time.

It’s this time of year where time management is a must. Just a word of advice, never schedule two events on the same day. If you want to see some of the media coverage on me, visit my web site at

We are a week away from the start of the Women's Bassmaster Tour tournament here in Little Rock, and the excitement is building. Four of the WBT pros, including myself were live on the local morning sports talk radio today. We have a television and still photo shoot this weekend as well. Being local has it's drawbacks, but it has been fun. I have to keep my mind in the game and not let the bright lights get to me. I now know why most fail on their home waters....too much attention is placed on them.
I have been practicing on Lake Maumelle for about a week now. I think it will take about 10 lbs. a day to make the cut and cash a check. The weather will play a key in this tournament.

Over the last few weeks the latest talk is about the Arkansas River and how high it is running. We found out last week the alternate body of water is Lake Maumelle. All the WBT anglers have been watching the water levels on the Arkansas daily. If the Arkansas River drops below 75000 cfs then the next tournament will be on the river, but if the flow remains above 75000 cfs then we will fish Lake Maumelle. It is important to get in some practice time, so I have been spending some time on Lake Maumelle.  Hopefully the final decission will be made by the BASS officials this week.  If we don't hear something by this weekend, I might have to take in a day of practice on the Arkansas, high water or not.
I need a couple of good finishes to get in the top 20, so I can fish the year end Championship.

I have now completed the first  official day of practice of the season opener on the Women's Bassmaster Tour. We are on Neely Henery Lake in Alabama. The water is falling and in the low 60's. I hear they are pulling the water down about 5 ft. to accomidate the rain anticipated on Thurs. which is opening day of the tournament. Practice this far has been tough. Once I pattern the shallow fish, it all changes within a few hours, so I hope once the water calms, I will have a limit.
I have caught several nice bass, and hopefully can put together a limit at least once during the tournament. The bass seem to want moving baits, but that can all change as the water falls. The fish seem to be prespawn today.
