I got home at 1 a.m. this morning after a 20 hour drive back home to South Dakota from Houston, Texas! I drove down there for the weekend to see the AMA Pro Supercross and do some riding myself. That is why they call me "MadMan McCann". I drove down on Thursday, rode on Friday, watched supercross on Saturday, rode again on Sunday and drove back home on Monday. Whew! It was good to thaw out my bike from the South Dakota winter and get a little seat time during the winter. It took a while to get the cobwebs out and feel comfortable on the bike but I ended the day on a good note.

I spent New Years in the ER. The 911 call went in at 11:59pm, one minute before the new year - what timing! Aparently I was out for about 20-30 seconds on the floor after I colapsed with my hand clutched firmly against my chest. Doctors say I passed a blood clot through my heart and they have me on blood thinners right now. I went back to the hospital for multiple tests (VQ Scan, Lower Extremity Veinous Doppler, CT Scan). I am not allowed to excercise until further notice until the doctors can tell me what is going on. This really stinks, I need to be training for MX!

Well, it has been a crazy year. I lost my job and was unemployed for several months, moved to Iowa and this summer got flooded out of my home, then fortunately was able to relocate to South Dakota in September and have a stable job with a good company.
So, it was time to go race somewhere! I traveled +4 hours to New Hartford, IA and raced with my younger brother in the +30 Vet B class. It was good to be back on the starting line and banging bars after an extended absence.

It's been another tough year. Unfortunately, while practicing last weekend to better prepare for the Loretta Lynn Regional, I crashed pretty hard. No broken bones - that's good - but severe bruising of my pelvis. So, with my Regional Qualifier this weekend, I was unable to compete due to injuries.
I should be back on the bike in a couple weeks. Now I am more determined than before.

Finally! After nearly 6 weeks of not being able to ride, I made it to the track today and put in a few motos. Hopefully I will be able to get out of bed in the morning (back pain), but I think I will be OK. I rode good, was nailing the turns and blitzing the whoops.
Problem is that I have not been able to do any physical activity in over a month and it showed today at the track. I got tired fast!
I am making plans to get to Three Palms on May 6th for my last opportunity to enter a Area Qualifier for Loretta Lynn's. This year is starting off rough!

15 years ago I was diagnosed with degenerate joint disease in my back and I've managed through it. I have a bulging disc at L4-L5 that flares up from time to time and knocks me out of commission. Well, it flared up big time a few weeks ago and still has me sidelined. The chronic state usually only last a few days; however, this time it has lasted a couple weeks! With such extended pain and discomfort, my chiropractor even sent me down the street to a medical doctor to get some relief as I hobble in each day hunched over sideways.
It has been so frustrating! I can't do anything, let alone stand up straight. The only good thing is that I've been improving these last few days. It will be a couple more weeks before I can get back on a bike. Such a bummer.

I got back on the line last week for the first time since January. I was gated with 17 Vet riders and pulled the holeshot the first moto! Even though my wrist / hand is at about 90%, I had to get back into racing. I have a lot of lost time to make up for. Next weekend I plan to drive 9 hours to Floresville, TX and race at Cycle Ranch.

I missed the MidSouth Shootout last weekend, and now I am going to miss the American VET Championship race this weekend because my wrist is not healed up enough. Very frustrating to say the least. This has been a tough year for me with multiple injuries and set backs.
The doctor gave me a cortisone shot in my hand yesterday to help speed up the healing. I hope it works so I can get back on the bike! I keep crossing out races on the calendar as they come and go while I am sidelined.
As of now, I anticipate racing at Wildwood MX in Kentwood, LA on October 1st, and then the Dealer`s Challenge at ThreePalms in Conroe, TX on October 22nd. I will be back!

Orthopaedic Surgeon said wrist is healing as expected and to start therapy this week. I am hoping to still make the American Vet Championship race @ 3Palms MX in Conroe, TX. The race is only 2 weeks away.
