Why do you like this sport?
I live and very structured and rule-filled existence. Snowboarding gives me a freedom that I can't find elsewhere. There are no rules or expectations. You just go out and shred. When I'm on the mountain I do what gives me a sense of fulfillment, not what will make other people happy.
Describe your style...
I'll take the free or cheap over fashionable any day.
Oh wait. We're talking about snowboarding here. Heh. I like messing around, bonking on things, you know? When I jump I like to just try new grabs. I'm a grabber. It's who I am. Heh. I'll throw in some rotation every once in a while but...
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I go through intensive daily training. Here's a peak into it;
6:00am Wake up and do homework.
8:00am-3:pm Go to school and talk/doodle about snowboarding
4:00pm-9:pm Hang around the house or skateboard. If I'm in the house I'll watch snowboarding videos or strap in in my living room and work on jumps, grabs, and presses.
10:00pm-6:00am Dream about snowboarding and all the homework I've procrastinated on.
Oh yeah, I occasionally make the three-four hour drive to snowboard for real. :P
Music?
Music music music. My inspiration, my motivation. It keeps me going. What genre I like depends upon my mood. I really do like all music though. I haven't met a style I didn't like.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a snowboarder or have a job that allows me to still be part of the snowboarding community. It'd be pretty gnarly to be a designer for Rome or a writer for Transworld or something.
