Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

After I stopped playing volleyball my sophomore year of college, I started running recreationally. Some friends of mine who had done an Ironman recommended I try triathlon, and after several months of pressure I finally gave in only to find out I love it!

List your competitive highlights:

1st women, 20/601 overall Irvine Lake Mud Run (Oct. 2009): 2nd age, 4th women- Playa del Rey Sprint Tri (Oct. 2009): 1st age, 3rd women- Carpinteria Sprint Tri (Sept. 2009): 3rd age- Iron Girl Las Vegas Oly (May 2009): 5th age- Ironman 70.3 CA (Apr 2009): 3rd age- Turkey Tri (Nov. 2008)

What are you planning for next season?

Hopefully starting off with a couple of sprints and olys before returning to Oceanside in March. During the rest of the season I will probably focus more on olympic but may try to work in another 70.3, possibly the Patriot Half in my hometown in Sept.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Probably finishing 5th in my age group at Oceanside. It was my first race of that distance, 3rd ever tri, and as I found out in May I did it with a stress fracture which has thankfully now healed.

Some great jams
