My Sports

I Do: Motocross

I always liked motorsports, but I didn't get into quads until October of 2001, when I bought a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 2-stroke. Haha, after I modified it, the thing was way too fast for its own good. It was often seen tearing around in Tri-County ATV Park. After I started breaking parts every weekend on it, I knew I had to get something that fit more my style. I picked up my YFZ450 in 2007, and started riding MX for the first time in September of 2007. I still have a LOT to learn, but I feel that I am making progress. I love watching my friends race supercross. I am happy to support my friends with encouragement, advice, and humor in the pits. I am now also planning on racing in limited capacity during the 2009 season. When I'm not out riding, I enjoy storm spotting/chasing, hiking, camping, geocaching, horseback riding, technology, photography and videography, aviation, genealogy, and space and cold war history. Professionally, I administer computer networks and data systems for the largest employer in the city.

Why do you like this sport?

I got into the sport for the sheer thrill and adrenaline rush of going fast and flying through the air. I stay in the sport because it's a family sport. In this day in age, where family members are separated most of the time, each going off doing their own thing, I have seen Motocross bring that family element back. It's also a very gender-neutral sport. It's a sport where men and women can both compete on an equal level.

Music?

I'm not one who goes to every concert that comes around. Nonetheless, music has been there with me from the start. I became an intermediate-level piano player in elementary school, played percussion in Jr. High, and I've dabbled with guitar and vocals in recent years. As far as style, my friends would say that I like a little of everything ... really. Metal, Hardcore, Classical, Hard Rock, New Age, Oldies, Country, you name it. I'll go from listening to Killswitch Engage to Frank Sinatra to David Lanz. It all depends on my mood.

How's Life Treating You?

A true statement that I have often told my friends. Since I was about 21, every single year of my life has gotten better. I try to advance and become a better person, and a better friend. Life is wonderful and I thank God for my health, and I hope that this trend will continue for the next decade as well.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Haha, that's a good question. While I'm fairly established professionally now, I feel I have enough diverse interests where I could take up something new pretty quickly if I get stuck in a rut with my current career.

	Ahhh heck yeah. A friend of mine has a private track at his place that him and his dad built with all kinds of equipment...a lot of time and love put into that track I'll tell you what. Practice, practice, practice. I've got a few back injuries to heal up first ;)
