There is not much more exciting than feeling that you are hooked up! Saturday evening, at Shellhammers Speedway, was a perfect example as the #42 Paradise Road Slotcar Racing Kart went from for 8th to 2nd place. After the first few laps, the sensation of coming out of a turn fast, going deep into a turn, having confidence to pass, accelerating down the straight and racing 2 wide lasted the entire race and really got the adrenaline pumping. Even better is knowing that the family had something to cheer about and enjoyed the excitement. And that is one of the reasons we love racing!

Rather than harp on what didn’t go well for the #42 Paradise Road Slotcar.com Racing Kart at Shellhammers Speedway, let’s focus on what to do when things just don’t go your way. First, realize what’s going on. Being aware that you are annoyed, frustrated or even angry can go a long way on making the best of any situation. When you are in the heat of the moment it may not be the easiest thing to do but it sure is a good feeling when you made the best of a situation rather than making it worse through over-reacting. Remember what is most important, keep in mind your goals, and believe that “this too shall pass.” And lastly, reflect on what you can learn from the situation. There is always next week.

Feeling good about a 3rd place finish only an hour earlier, it was time to get it done with a 30 lapper at Shellhammers Speedway. Starting 5th in a field of 10 karts, the strategy was to finish in the top 5. After 15 laps I was in fourth until I saw the leader bounce off the wall in turn 2. This brought out a red flag and the ambulance crew and reminded me how dangerous this sport can be. The driver was able to walk away from his kart with substantial damage to the rear bumper. This put the Paradise Road Slotcar Racing Kart in 2nd place for the remainder of the race.

Ever wonder how things might turn out? Last night, at Shellhammers Speedway, was no different for the #42. Starting 7th in a field of 9 karts meant that the first few laps were going to be busy with traffic. As the race progressed, the 3 karts in front began to wreck causing me to dive into the infield to avoid any contact. As I plowed back onto the track, I was quite confused as to where to start. When the flagman showed 4 fingers I got quite excited knowing that I was in 4th place. In the last few laps, I was able to push the Paradise Road Slotcar Racing Kart to take 3rd place at the checkers.
