Q&A - Personal

Some Personal Information About Me:

We're a family who loves to ride bikes together. We have quite an eclectic little team. Our littlest will turn 8 in October. She conquered Easy Does It at Whistler this summer and even ventured on to some blue trails. Our middle daughter is going to be 12 this winter. She had been leading the points in the Fluidride Cup for the category III under 18 women, up until she had a little spill and fractured her wrist in practice. She will miss the last two races, but is already looking forward to next year! Travis is our oldest. He's 15 and enjoys all kinds of riding, but especially likes jumping. Our family vacation this summer in Whistler had him hitting Freight Train, A-Line, and Dirt Merchant runs all week long! Yvonne is the mom/stepmom. That's me! I fulfilled a long term goal and finished an Xterra triathlon this summer. I plan to do more next year. Jerry is our expert, lead mechanic, and coach. Without him, we could never do all that we do. He's been moving up in his class all seaason and is stoked to see where he finishes after Fluidride Cup finals next week.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Our training schedule is very "fly by the seat of our pants"...mostly we just ride. But even that's not always as simple as it sounds with work schedules, children of varying riding abilities, and our lovely North"wet" weather. One day, we might get a babysitter and hit some technical downhill. Another, we might all hit a fairly tame trail with the 8 year old setting the pace.

How's Life Treating You?

Great! There is so much to be thankful for!

Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?

We love to travel! Last summer, we loaded up the van with all of our bikes and the family and headed out towards Sun Peaks bike park. I found a dirt road on the map that looked like a shortcut. Well, it wasn't. We finally found some civilization and asked a woman in a small store for directions. She was very enthusiastic and said that we had seen parts of Canada that most travelers don't. Then she gave us directions that included more dirt roads and then a trail (!). We tried it, but were unsuccessful, had to turn around, backtrack, finally made it to the bike park 14 hours out from home. I'm convinced that woman cracked up laughing saying, "stupid Americans!" as soon as we drove off!

Describe your style...

Let's see...Jerry loves the steep, steep technical downhill. Yvonne loves flowy Super D style downhill the most. Travis' favorite is A-Line at Whistler. Adrianna is an animal on B-Line and our local trail, Preston.

  Hi Yvonne,
How are you? I'm doing ok. Healing up from last weekend. I get an MRI on my knee Wed and then the following week I see the Ortho doc. Hope you have a great off-season.
