Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
I started riding on a 1980s circa burton board it was a straight up cruiser with pointy nose and flat tail. My first competition was a half pipe comp in upstate new york i took first place in the am division at age 13.
List your competitive highlights:
- Taking first in the pipe am division at 13
- Meeting so many great people that i still ride with
- first backside rodeo in competition 2/12/06
What are you planning for next season?
-stay smooth and go bigger.
-play around on triple kinked in the backyard
-travel more to competions
-get more puplicity for myself and my sponsors
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
I cant say what my biggest accomplishment is because everytime i ride i raise the bar for myself and continue to progress with new tricks and by perfecting old ones. Maybe if i was asked this question when i am too old and crippled to snowboard i will be able to answer it. But until that day i will continue to ride and achieve more and move each time!
Q&A - Personal
Some Personal Information About Me:
Well my name is Jake Scott i was born in Toronto Canada and moved south to Northwestern Pennsylvania. Im 17 years old and the end of this season will mark my ninth year riding.
Why do you like this sport?
I love snowboarding for many many readsons... The experiences i have on the hill are unrivaled by many other off the hill happenings. The feeling of freedom and being one with nature is by far the most stress releaving action i can find. Ninety nine point nine percent of the people are amazing and its always fun to find new people to ride with and help you push tricks to the next level.
What inspires you to compete?
I compete for the thrill of it. For me its not about taking home gold its about riding a new feature and enjoying myself and the comraderie with fellow riders. Some of my best friends i have met through competion starting lines =)
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
When it comes to training i tend to tie it in with my sports schedule. Monday through Thursday i lift weights and work on cardio every other day, Friday through Sunday are spent on the mountain trying new tricks and perfecting old ones. Overall i keep a tight schedule watch what i eat and enjoy riding as much as possible.!
Music?
Its a lifestyle! I rock the skullcandy lowriders when i ride and love to listen to just about anything from old school gangsta beats from tupac and dre to new school remixes, bob marley, cypress hill, 3OH!3, A day to Remember, Escape the Fate and A skylit Drive. I listen to anything and everything. I have to give a big shout out to MGMT and M83 for their music from Thats it Thats All and too Extreme Production Music for keeping the beats comming
