Overview

How I got started

I started riding mountain bikes my freshman year in college when I realized that I could drown in a kayak. (For a while, I thought I would be a whitewater paddler.) An awesome crew of riders in Gunnison, CO taught me the ropes out at Hartman Rocks. I started racing cross country about a month after I started pedaling.

By the time I was a senior, I took 2nd in the 2000 Division 2 National Collegiate Championships in cross country. I briefly raced expert cross country, but quickly burned out. I didn`t race for 3 years.

In 2005, at the Wildflower Rush in Crested Butte, I raced Super D and was instantly sucked back into racing. I raced my first downhill at the 2005 Brian Head, UT NORBA Nationals. I raced every weekend for the rest of the season. I love bikes again!

Goals for the Future

I race pro downhill, mountaincross, and dual slalom. I'm getting more into longer, less traditional races. I raced the Downieville All-Mountain Pro class in 2007 and 2008, and I like the idea of spending a lot of time on your bike when you spend a lot of money to race. I'd like to race some G3, Enduro, and 12-Hour downhill races in the future too.

Why do you compete?

I compete because I can`t sit still. I always need to be working on something whether it`s my job, my writing, my fitness, or my riding skills. Competition helps me create goals so that I can constantly improve my riding and my fitness.
