About Me:
I was born on August 22, 1981 in Covina, CA. I lived in Ontario, CA from birth to age 6 (shortly before my 7th birthday). My family moved to Moreno Valley, CA where I went to school from 2nd to 10th grade. At age 15 we moved again. This time, in 1996, we moved to San Jacinto, CA. There I finished out high school, graduating from San Jacinto High-School in 1999. After that I attended California State University San Bernardino. I received my Bachelor's of Art, in Art, with a focus in Graphic Design in June of 2003.
Growing up I rode ATVs and Dirt Bikes. I spent plenty of time riding the Glamis sand dunes. I also rode my BMX bike almost everywhere, even into high school. I nearly stopped riding my bike once I was able to drive. However, I got my first mountain bike in 1998 and did some local riding with friends. I stopped riding both bicycles and dirt bikes while in college for a lack of time. I did however; buy a motorcycle, which I commuted back and forth to school on.
While attending college I held a couple of different banking jobs. After graduation I struggled to find a graphic design job. Experience takes precedence over education, but for good reason. Finally, I landed a low paying graphic design job with Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino, CA. I worked there for approximately 9 months before a co-worker referred me to my current employer in Riverside CA.
In 2004 my parents sold their home in San Jacinto and moved. Between April 2004 and August 2005 I floated around a bit. I moved to Big Bear Lake, CA, back to San Jacinto. Then to West Covina, CA before I ended up in Loma Linda, CA after getting married.
On September 17th, 2005 I married my girlfriend of 5 years. We had met in August of 2000 and were engaged in August of 2004. We’ve now spent over 9 years together and we're currently expecting our first child, due February 1st, 2010.
When I moved to Loma Linda, CA I was with in bike commuting distance of work. I bought a hard-tail mountain bike and began riding it back and forth to work. In January of 2006 I bought my first road bike and began taking cycling more seriously. In April of ’06 I raced my first cross-country race and purchased my Full Suspension bike shortly after. I began spending more time training and racing and less time commuting to work.
June of 2007 my wife and I bought our first house. With home ownership comes a lot of responsibility. Not to mention the sudden lack of spending money. My time became consumed by my new found responsibilities and bike racing had to take the back seat. I still very much enjoy riding my bike. But I'm now unable to devote all my free time to training. Because of which I have branched off into other areas of competition. I've experimented with racing dirt bikes, running and I'm sure more is to come.
How I got started:
A guy I used to work with got me into racing bicycles. He races pro MTB and as a CAT2 for road racing. I saw what he was able to do, and decided that I would like to do it myself.
Goals for the Future:
My biggest desire is to be healthy and well balanced. Both physically and mentally. Focused training for one particular sport was very stressful both for body and mind. I may not be as fast on a bicycle as I once was, but I feel I am in better shape overall.
