Overview

How I got started

I started riding four wheeler when my Dad brought home a Suzuki Quadsport 80 several years ago. I graduated to motorcycles and eventually found myself riding either a Suzuki DR650 or Yamaha YZ490 by the age of 14. As my abilities grew, my dad offered to train and practice with me for local racing events. I ran a couple of non sanctioned events in the local area last year with the Yamaha YZ490, but desired a more modern bike.

In April of 2006, we purchased a Honda CR250R and we began an awsome adventure! We were poised for AMA racing. Our plans were to place a consistent 6th place out of a 10 rider field. Basically a 60% position or better was our goal.

Goals for the Future

To race Motocross, Hare Scrambles, and Enduros. Area events have more Motocross than Hare Scrambles and especially Enduros. As I continue to increase and maintain speed in the corners, pursue agressive jumps, and land in a accelerating attack position, I feel I can find myself in another position or two advancement at the finish line. If all equates as we plan, I may have to advance to the next class of racers at the end of the year. I plan to pursue an agressive sponsorship program to benefit both the sponsor and my racing efforts. My Dad and I are social people and welcome conversation and development of our sponsor`s programs.

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

To see myself develop my racing skills and see the results of my efforts. We planned to place in the top 60% of races this year and we have blown that objective right out of the water! I like to converse with other racers and see if they have a bad attitude that drives me to somehow finish in a better position than them. At no time am I cocky... but I am confident in myself. It inspires me to to be excellent as a rider. My definition of excellence is to be better today than I was yesterday and better tomorrow than I was today. The best riders are the ones who strive to be excellent, just not the best, fastest, or coolest looking.

Why do you like this sport?

I love the sport. If I could be on a bike all hours of every day, I would. Since that is not possible, I really enjoy any time I can have a spark plug firing under me!

Describe your style...

My style is like Ricky Chad R put into one. I am like Chad because I am consistant in my races. I am like Ricky when I am in the whoops. I liken my style to being that of a shock absorber... long term I am well conditioned and smooth, but can take the unexpected in a way other riders can`t. And if you can`t see either of those riders in my style, then I am a Kevin W, always performing and seldom with mistakes.

Music?

Rock and Country. I love the musical content, but really enjoy the lyrics.

Why do you compete?

I compete because my parents allow me to. I like to see how good I can do against people that have more experience than I. I am hopeful to gain more sponsorship that will allow me to race in larger events than just local. Being sponsored and displaying a sponsors products and marketing material is all part of the moto racer image (flashy, clean, and professional).

Competitive Highlights

Motocross: Wittenberg, WI. First AMA moto event to participate in. The dropping gate failed to operate correctly, but I managed a 10th. The next moto of the day, I took 1st.

Hare Scramble: Hixton, WI. First AMA Hare Scramble. One hour event. Placed 3rd.

Motocross: Hixton, WI. Same day as the above Hare Scramble. I placed 3rd in the first moto and 4th in the second. It was a tiring day, but I loved racing both disciplines.

Hare Scramble: Rome (Dyracuse), WI. Finished 5th in a 45 person Hare Scramble. Two hour race.
