long weekend of AMA Pro Singles dirt track racing. Hit me up, I'll pay you back when I get home next week!!

Jeremy

up for the Springfield mile on 9/06/09. My motor is rebuilt and ready for the dyno...

On Sunday, 6/22/08 I raced at The Crusaders TT Series in Medina, NY. It's a sweet stone-dust track with left and right turns, and some major elevation changes. I've been racing there since I was 5 years old. After winning championships in the mini and amatuer claases, I moved up to expert. This was the 2nd race in the 5-race series. After finishing 2nd in the 250-expert class last week, i was able to earn my first expert win. I also finished 4th in the open-expert class, as well as 2nd in the Grand-prix race. I attended my first flat track race as an AMA Pro Sport on 5/31/2008 at the Vernon mile in Vernon, NY. I knew exactly what to expect here after getting in some practice laps a few weeks earlier. That payed off because this is a huge, fast track. We had a few rain delays, but the track came around later in the evening. I finished third in my heat, so i had a second row start for the main event. I got a good jump and moved up to 5th place, and battled back and forth with another rider for the entire 10 laps. I passed him in turn 4 of the last lap and it was a drag race to the finish. The crowd at the finish line said I beat him by about a foot, but I was given 5th place overall. I was still very happy with my effort and result.

Our team traveled to Paris Ontario, Canada for the first CMA half-mile dirt track event of the season. This was my first race as an expert. It was cold and windy, and the track was deep, just the way I like it! My 450 ran well, and after a few changes I finished second in the 450-expert class and second in the open-expert class. So i'm off to a good start up north!

So i went to Monticello, NY on 5/4/08 for an open practice session on the half-mile stone dust track. I've been doing a bunch of motocross, but this was the first time out on my 450 dirt tracker this year. After a winter rebuild, this was the perfect place to get it dialed in. We made some jetting and gearing changes throughout the day, and ended up turning some really good laps. I felt very comfortable on the bike.

The next day, 5/5/08 we traveled to Vernon Downs, NY to practice on the 7/8ths mile stone dust track. This track is huge! Almost as big as the Springfield mile i raced on a few years ago. So after some more gearing changes throughout the day, we had the 450 and myself dialed in again, reaching speeds over 100mph. I could hold the throttle wide open and never let off all the way around the track. I saw a few 450s go up in smoke on this track, so i think we're right where we need to be.  Vernon Downs will be hosting an AMA pro flat track championship race 0n 5/31/08, with my pro sport class as a support race.

My friend Dan and I went to NEMX indoor motocross in Andover, Ohio on 3/15/08. It's a 3 hour drive from NY, but I needed to shake the rust off! The track was awesome, and there were lots of bikes to practice with. I went out 6 times, so by the end of the day I could tell that I had put some serious laps in! My crf250f ran well after a winter rebuild.  This was my first chance to break-in my TCX boots, and try out my Scorpion helmet and Steelmx goggles. Everything worked really good and fit well. There's still snow on the ground up here, so we'll be going back for some more practice soon!!!

On 9/29/07 my family and I traveled to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup Selection Event. The riders who are selected get to race in a 9-race series at all the big road courses across the U.S.A.  It will be a support class for the 2008 AMA Superbike series. 600 applications were narrowed down to 200 invitations. 100 riders competed on Saturday, and 100 competed on Sunday. 50 were picked to come back on Monday and do it all over again.  I made the final 50, but I won't know if I am one of the 20 riders to race in the series until this Friday, 10/05/07.

The bikes were sick! Full fairings, upside down forks, big brakes, and the track was the best I've ever been to. Everything ran smoothly and on time. I got to meet  World Champion road racer Kevin Schwantz and Supermoto Champion Jeff  Ward. Kevin spent a lot of time working with the riders and answering all our questions. I learned so much about road racing in a short amount of time. I hope I make the cut, but if I don't, it was still well worth it! Wish me luck!!!
