Q&A - the Man, the Myth, the Legend...ME

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

I haven't had many embarrassing moments in my life, though I usually do not regret too much, however there is one time that has shaken me truly. About six months ago I fell apart and was someone that truly wasn't me. My father died February '07 and I just lost my foundation. October, I was a mess, loosing almost everything, grades, my personality, friends, and even me being in piss poor shape. I wasn't happy and was drinking heavily and was angry all the time. I wasn't the vibrant, energetic person I was to be known for. I was taught (from a amazing strong man, my father) to be strong and even in fourth grade, I was told by my father that i was the man of the house if anything was to happen to him while he was battling cancer. Even though he pulled through then, what he said stuck with me till this day. However I was hurting inside and was struggling. I just missed him and needed him through this battle. One day in a drunken mess, I looked at myself and realized who i was... nothing. I stood up and got help, took classes, and got back into shape faster than anyone could ever have. I finally got my old self back and finally was happy. It took a terrible moment in life, almost loosing the closest people around me and even all my goals in life to realize what I have become. Though it was a horrific time in my life, it was a great thing. I taught me more than any classroom could ever and i carry this knowledge with me and it has done so much for me. I have everything that i lost or almost lost back and with some great people, the embarrassing moment has turned into something great.

Why do you compete?

The pure drive that it offers. It isn't about the rush, it certainly gives a thrill, but it is about pushing my limits and my goals. Pushing myself to go big, do better than last time and push myself to be on top, Competing hands down is a blast and is in my blood and always will be. Not only that, but it is pure fun, a feeling that in ways can not be explained, but it isn't just fun, the thrill, the drive, but everything it brings.

What inspires you to compete?

The pure drive of competition. I love competing, to push myself against the competition as well as against myself too. Pushing my own limits is just as satisfying as it is to take a top five spot. To be able to accomplish my goals is all part of competing and it is just in my blood, wether I like it or not... which I love it! Not only that but competitions bring everyone together, seeing your friends and others meeting other racers. The competition side certainly brings people around to one place. Friendships extending outside your home area. That is another great thing about competing.

Describe your style...

My style is subtle, but does have flash. I go big and go hard, I love speed and love big air (drops and gaps). Dirt jumps are something that is hard to come by in my area if that at all, but it isn't something I would shy away from, not my strong point but to lead me to my next point, I wont shy away from anything, I'd rather go home hurting than go home shaking my head regretting that I had done it!

How's Life Treating You?

Life is GREAT, life can certainly deal you some rough hands but I can not complain. I love life and attack life to the fullest. I have been lucky though, certainly i have had not had any hand outs, but I have been fortunate to have two great parents and some great friends which are hard to come by. Not only that, I have had the chance to get give college a second chance and snag a degree. Though school has beaten my wallet, with hard work and many hours too, I can attack the racing scene like years past and not just here and there. No matter what, even with loses in family and life, Life is great and even if you have a bad apple, there is always tomorrow to look forward to!
