A Sitdown interview with Mike Terry (for the star newspaper)
First question, how does your family feel about your racing?
(Laughs) You know that's the question everyone asks... and everyone knows what the answer is. They don't like it. My mom says it's easy when I'm runnin' smoothe but the second I seem uncomfortable or like I'm struggling she gets a little stressed. My dad, brother, and sister get scared but they're more just excited to see me doin' what I love, not that my mom's not or anything.
On a given race night, what part is the most tense?
Well that's a tough question, there are two equally tense parts for me. I believe the most tense and few people would think of this one, but when your sitting, getting ready to get pushed off for your qualification run...I just feel a little nervous there because you don't completely know how your car as well as yourself are gonna feel when you get out on the track. You don't know the bumps and hard you can push it in the turns before it just goes. The other is coming around and turn 3 into turn 4 at the start of the feature race and I think that one is just obvious.
So recently you hurt your shoulder in a crash, hows is that feeling?
It's feeling a little better. I'm not one to sit out because of injuries but the way I see it is I don't wish to do more damage on it, or run a race uncomfortably, end up getting in a wreck and getting hurt worse, or even worse hurting someone else.
Last thing, what's the plan with the rest of the season?
Good question, (laughs) well, I'm hopin' to get my shoulder back in order. Then hopefully I'll be back in the car and running in the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association (BMARA) and in some USAC series races. Then we'll see what happens from there.

How'd you feel out there tonight in your first race here?
It felt awesome to be out here at the park. It was a ton of fun and I really do love this place. It was exciting to be on the other side of the fence at a place that has such history. This is also the place I'd have to call my second home.
How'd the car feel?
The car felt great and I really thought I had some good flow going and looking back at the video from the race I really did. But fate caught us and we got caught with a blwon piston. I was runnin so smooth and was really hittin my marks so it was kind of a let down. But we've got time. We'll rebuild her this week and go get em' the next.
What was the best part of the night?
Well honestly, sitting gettin ready to get pushed off cause my adrenaline was pumpin and my blood was boilin and I was just ready to go! It was such an awesome feeling when the car kicked in to gear and I started to pull away from the push truck.
How'd it feel racing in front of your friends and family here in your home town?
Oh it was so sweet. I was siked up before the race. A lot of people I knew rolled through our pit before the race to wish our hole crew well and it was just a lot of fun. Sadly I didn't have the result I wanted but everyone told me they were proud of me which really reminded me just how blessed I am.
What are your plans for the coming weeks?
Hopefully we'll be back out here next week. I don't see why we wouldn't be but we have a race on Saturday night so depending on what time we get back from that. But I'm almost certain that you'll be seein me and the boys out here again this comin weekend.
