What inspires you to compete?
I am 54yrs old now and I grew up in the rise of Motocross in this country. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 8 in so cal. In 1966 my dad started a motorcycle shop in Garden Grove Ca to which M/Cs were our life. In 1971 my dad realized I was fast enough to WIN races so thats when he let me start racing. I was lucky enough to take 3 days of privite lessons from Joel Robert, (5 time world champion) and Ricky Johnson in 94, which improved my skills that I still use today. It`s the competitive nature of 2 wheels and skills that make you want to be faster and smoother that somebody else.
Some Personal Information About Me:
I am the youngest 54 yr old I know, Love the time I can spend with my son (24) and my daughter (21) DH racing and riding, wake boarding/skiing, boating/offshore pokerruns. My boat is a 80mph 630hp 25` that is called 2nd Generation. I`ve done all the paint work/motor work on it and everywhere we go with it people want to know about it and are amazed that it is a older boat.
Describe your style...
I try to ride as smooth as possible and as fast as I can in the places where other riders would be resting. I am fast in the rocky sections, careful on the big gaps. Every 10th of a sec counts.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
Yes. Trail ride 1-2 days a week and DH 1-2 days a week. Our DH course has everything a national DH course would have but ours is a 7+ min which makes you press harder for a longer amount of time.We also have a dual slalom course to practice on.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Since I ride with some of the fastest DH riders in the northwest on a weekly basis, and keep improving and stay healthy by the time I reach 60 yrs old, I might be a "fast old guy"
