Glenn McGovern First American FIM MX Vet entry Namur
Racer X website Newstory of 07/31/07
Racer X has a nice article on my entry at Namur on its website July 31, 2007. It mentioned all my sponsors and was on the first page. You can see it in the archives of July 31, 2007, at www.racerx.com. GLENN
A new 2007 KTM 250SX has being prepared for shipping overseas to Namur, Belgium and then Donington Park, Great Britain for the FIM World Veterans MX Championship series. Confirmation of entries is expected July 18, 2007, and hopes for acceptance and success are high. Riding in rain and mud in preparation for the worst the muddy tracks can offer has been a challenge, but not as much as dealing with customs and shipping obstacles. Hopefully a 149 lbs. rider on a 53 horsepower 207 lbs. bike can be competitive with the basically unlimited class rules. This is the cumulation of a life long dream. The journey has had some twists but the goal is withing reach and real. It will be honor to race with the world's best Vet riders on the oldest motocross track in the world where, past motocross legends like Harry Everets (remember the twin carb Puch he rode in World MX), Stephan Everets, DeCoster, Roberts, Carlquist, Lackey won World Championships in history. The question is will I make any history? We'll see. I plan to enjoy the journey. Update 0810/07: Racer X website had a nice article on the entry to the Namur race on July 31, 2007 and listed my sponsors. The race at Namur was awesome.I am batterred but in one piece. The bike worked well. It is the longest and toughest mx track on the FIM Circuit. Pictures and video do not do it justice. I look forward to the second race at Donington Park in Great Britiain. Logistically, have a bike in a crate shipped all over has been difficult. Not having all the support persons and gear is also an almost impossible situation. It has been a learning experience and I am really excited about doing well at Donington.
